The Bulls were victorious with a 9-6 win, their second triumph of the weekend. Bulls trample Wiarton 9-6 The Brussels Bulls picked up the team's first two wins of the season this weekend knocking off the Kincardine Bulldogs Friday night 5 - 2 and rolling over the Wiarton Wolves on home ice Sunday 9-6. The Bulls fired everything but the kitchen sink at Kincardine’s goalie Dennis Laschuk Friday, but could only beat him five times with 56 shots. Captain Greg McNevan was the game's first star, scoring one and setting up three more. Special teams were the key with the Bulls scoring three powerplay markers plus one while short- handed. Nate Bender, Tim Beyer and Murray Kaye chipped in with singles while Brian Zabel pitched in with three helpers. Sunday a good crowd was on hand at the Brussels, Morris and Grey Community Centre for the Bulls' first home game and they went home happy. The other new team this year in the Western Junior 'C' league, the Wiarton Wolves, has iced a very competitive team. Once again special teams played an important role in this game. The Bulls notched four powerplay goals but gave up five to the Wolves. Pete Mulder had the hot stick firing the natural hat-trick in the third period to put the game out of reach. Josh Alexander was moved from defence to left wing and responded with two goals and three assists. Greg Fritz, Peter Ryter, Brandon Alviano and Jason Camm picked up the other Bulls' goals. "We have yet to put together a full 60 minutes of hockey but I’m seeing some good signs," said Coach Scott Pettigrew. "We had trouble last year getting 20 shots in a game and now in four games we have had more than 50 twice." The Bulls now sport a record of two and two and are tied for second with Hanover and Wingham. Next action for the Bulls is Sunday at 2 p.m. when the first place Mt. Forest Patriots come to town. Do it like this, players Zack Smith, of the Brussels Bulls, takes local players through their paces at the Bulls Hockey School held at the BM&G Community Centre from Oct. 3 to 7. Bulls Coach Scott Pettigrew says there were about 19 players in the younger group and approximately 38 in the senior session.
