Ball hosts Walkerburn Club The Walkcrburn Club met al Ethel Ball's home on Monday, Sept. 26 al 2 p.m. The hostess opened the meeting with a poem "An Olde To Autumn". Kay Lapp offered prayer closing with The Lord's Prayer in unison. Minutes of the 75th anniversary was read and approved. Member, Isabel Moore is a patient in Clinton Hospital. It was decided that Ruth McClinchcy would purchase a gift for her. The club members were also sorry to hear that Betty Archambault had knee surgery and is making a slow recovery. Betsy Verwcy invited the club to her home for the Halloween party. Come in costume or pay a 50 cent fine. Ethel and Vera Penfound will be in charge of the program and Kay Lapp and Brenda Huizinga are lunch convenors. Birthday money and collection was then taken. The draw donated by Kay was drawn by the little guest Jessica Vcrwcy. To everyone's pleasure she drew her grandmother Betsy's name. Kay gave a reading on "Odd Names", then Ethel showed a video on the Holy Land. It takes in the early part of the Bible up to practically today. By picture members visited Jordan, Galillcc, Jerusalem, Mt. Zion and Babylon. They saw pools that Soloman built and arc still in use. There are walls built centuries ago still good and other walls and cities found and being restored. There were routes that Jesus travelled. Ethel had visited a number of these places and told us about them. They were magnificent pictures and the club thoroughly enjoyed them. They gathered around the dining room table and grace was said by Kay. Lunch was served by the hostess and Martha Daer and a social half hour closed the meeting. Knox celebrates communion Knox United Church celebrated baptismal and communion service with Rev. Paul Ross. Nancy Park was organist and the opening chorus Come Christians Join to Sing was sung. The Baptismal hymn Father oj the Human Family was sung. The Sacrament of Baptism took place. Baptized were McKenna Joset Hullcy, child of John and Kim Hullcy and William James Plactzcr. The children's chorus was sung. Hymn Plenty of Room tn the Family was sung. Rev. Ross sang a solo accompanied by Bernice Gross. The meditation was "Oh to be a Child Again!" The communion hymn was Sons of God. Following communion The Lord's Prayer was repeated in unison. The offering was received by Bryan Gross and Michael Bakker and for the Sunday School by Robbie Archambault and Jeff Carter then dedicated in song and prayer. Closing hymn Standing On 1 he Promises was sung and Rev. Ross pronounced the benediction. The singing of Amens concluded the service. Pumpkinfest set for Oct. 17 The Aubum Horticulture Society is hosting Pumpkinfest on Monday, Oct. 17 at 7 p.m. at the Auburn Community Hall. There will be contests for pumpkin weigh-in with prizes awarded for largest, medium and smallest: a baking contest, pumpkin carving to be completed at the hall and table centerpiece contest made from a pumpkin.
