They opened the meeting with O Canada. Tom Duizcr introduced Jeff Taylor and Beth Pimm from Goderich OPP who spoke on forming a police committee. Edythe read a poem "So Summer Ends". Thank yous were read from Laura Lyon, Betty Archambault and Debbie Hoggart. Reta Kelland gave the financial report. There are 28 paid members. The last Wednesday of November will be the Christmas dinner. They will visit Huronlea at Brussels on Oct. 11 at 2 p.m. The Pastor talks of childhood Greeters at Londesboro United Church on Sunday, Oct. 2 were Don and Kittie MacGregor. Ushers were Debbie Hoggart, Katie MacGregor and Don and Kittie MacGregor. The sermon topic was "Oh, to be a child again". Jasmine Ashley Kennedy, daughter of Steven Kennedy and Suzanne Dallas was baptized. WDCLA hold early bird draw The Wingham and District Community Living Association held the first Early Bird draw Sept. 23 for the Annual Lottery and Dinner Dance. Winners of the $500 early bird prize was Art Clark and Andy McBride. The draw was made by Florence Reavie at the association's administration office on Josephine Street. The next early bird draw will beheld Oct. 21 so there is still time to purchase a ticket. There were four tables of euchre played with the winners being: high lady, Betty Archambault; ladies' lone hands, Betty Hulley; ladies' low, Laura Lyon; men's high, Beth Knox; men's lone hands, Ted Fothergill and men's low, Bob Madill. All youth in Grade 7 and 8 interested in being a part of Junior Youth Group are invited to meet with Rev. Ross at the manse on Thursday, Oct. 6 from 7:30 - 9 p.m. Worship and Music Committee are asked to meet at the manse on Wednesday, Oct. 5 at 8 p.m. Choir practice is next Sunday, Oct. 9 at 10 a.m. $1,000 and 10 draws for $100) will be drawn at the dinner and dance Saturday, Nov. 5 at the Brussels, Morris and Grey Community Centre. This is the 16th year of hosting the Annual Lottery and Dinner Dance, which is also the association's main fundraising event. The former Laura Beacom was born on Oct. 3, 1904 in Hullett Twp. Her parents were Wesley and Mary Ann (Pearson) Beacom. She received her education at SS No. 7, Hullett.
