The hope of a cure is always the main goal, but this takes lime and money," Mrs. Lcishman said. "If for now, by doing this run, it will help make treatments easier for patients, young and old, so they are able to continue on as normally as possible, that is a start." Terry Fox died June 28, 1981, eight and a half months after cancer was discovered in his lung. In the 143 days of his run, which began April 12, 1980 and ended Sept. 1, he covered 5,564 kilometres. He raised over $24.1 million. For his efforts he was awarded the Companion Order of Canada, the Lou Marsh Trophy of Canada, Outstanding Athlete, Canadian of the Year for 1980 and 1981 and an Honourary Member of the Canadi­ an Sports Hall of Fame. The two girls arc members of the Seaforth Novice II ball team which placed first overall in the double elimination tournament held from Aug. 5 to 7. The team played five games and took on Aurora in the finals. The Seaforth team earned a resounding victory, taking Aurora 10-3. Amber, a left fielder, says, "The tournament was a lol of fun and I hope to be there again next year." Kara pitched and played first base.
