Fifty-eight people were present at the Wallace family picnic on Sunday at the Blyth Lions Park. Marjorie Duizer and Murray Hunking were in charge of sports. Winners of races were: six and under, Amanda Mitchell; 12 and under boys, Dean Pruss; 12 and Tolls greet at United Marlene Toll, son Bryce and daughter Kaitlyn ushered people at Blyth United Church on July 10. Greeters were Bonnie and Herb Shannon. Rev. Tolmay welcomed everyone. The hymn How Firm a Foundation was sung, followed by Invocation and Confession. The United Church Creed was repeated in unison. Children’s meditation was "the meaning of being misunderstood." Irregardless of how other people feel about you, we know God is with us and knows what is right and understands. You will never be alone, he said. The choir sang Only Believe, accompanied by the Director of Music, Mrs. Phyllis Boak. The hymn God Moves in a Mysterious Way, followed Rev. Tolmay’s theme of his sermon "Rejection and Acceptance" based from the scripture Mark 6:1-13. God loves and wants to give something that is full and satisfying. Several relay races were enjoyed by all ages and a tug of war was the climax of the activities. The candy guessing contest was won by June Wallace. Chairperson for the next year is Rick Rutledge; sports, Laurie Pruss and Larry Rutledge; food, Shirley Rutledge and Irma Marshall.
