Brussels (Public School Valedictorian reflects on years at Brussels PS By Heather Douma Parents, teachers, guests and graduates: Elementary school is a time to learn, grow and mature. It's a time to build lasting friendships, and develop skills we will be able to use for the rest of our lives. Now at our Grade 8 graduation it's a time to thank those who have helped us: - our parents who have given us a shoulder to lean on, their knowledge and advice when asked for and encouragement with assignments, - our teachers who made us strive for our best and never quit until the job was done, - and especially our friends, some of whom we've been with since kindergarten. Remember when: Susie Black's legs got tangled in a skipping rope and she was dragged down the sidewalk. Cory Bragg ripped the crotch of his pants. Korey Bray fell off his chair during a band performance of Jazz Prelude. Lisa Coyne got her pants pulled down by Julie Cloakey. Amy Crawford ran into three different doors in a row. Lesley Elliott had a pile of mats fall on her. Malinda Exel hit Shannon Groves with a football. Remember when: Jenny Gowing fell backwards off a giant rubber ball at the Fun Fair. Shannon Groves, Alex Leger and Jonathan Patch had to chase the shop bus down the street in front of the high school. Jason Kellington tried to follow his mother home on the first day of kindergarten. Remember when: Anita Little pulled the doorknob off a door, and almost walked into the boys' bathroom. Tanya Mawhinney and Kara Pepper had a paint fight. Michael McDonald came to school telling everyone about his new snowmobile. Amber Ruttan almost got caught eating on the bus. Cory Smith broke a light in the gym. Scott Somer put Fun Fruits, Oreos and celery sticks on his hot dogs. Jason Crawford and Jonathan Stuggins had a tickle fight on the bus. Sherry Therrien pitched almost every inning during the 2 pitch tournament. Robbie Burkholder had a crush on Susie. Cheryl Cloakey got to take home the quilt that the class made in Grade 4.
