Historic and picture perfect, the village
of Bayfield is just one of the many
treasures along the Lake Huron shoreline.
While many tourists flock to it for its
beauty and beaches, the shopping is also a
major attraction with its unique stores,
boutiques and dining establishments. Most
of the impressive main street buildings
have been designated heritage buildings.
They stand newly restored to their former
Victorian beauty.
Tourists coming to Bayfield will
discover that life in the country has never
been so special. The many Bed and
Breakfasts and historic inns located in the
village are renowned for their
accommodations and their delicious home
cooked meals. While staying in Bayfield
visitors have the benefit of top quality
lodging with fine dining, nightlife and
theatre close by. In addition, they can also
relax on sandy beaches, go sailing on the
Lake Huron waters or enjoy the open air
and green spaces.
For those who prefer the simpler
accommodations, Bayfield has an
abundance of campgrounds offering a
variety of activities and extras.
Despite the fact that it is less easy to find
than many of the others dotting the Lake
Huron shoreline, Bayfield Harbour is one
of the busiest pleasure craft harbours on the
Great Lakes. Millions of dollars worth of
boats dock along the riverside. Many
American power crafts populate the
Marina, which is located near the Bayfield
bridge.
Though it is known primarily as a
summer resort Bayfield has snowmobile
and cross-country ski trails for the winter
enthusiasts.
Expansive stretches
The sandy beaches of Lake Huron provide ample opportunity for swimmers and sunbathers as well as for the
lovestruck looking for a romantic spot to stroll and watch the sun set.
Dreams afloat
K warm summer day and a sailboat are all that is needed to pass a
pleasurable afternoon at the Bayfield marina. The quiet cove leads to Lake
Huron for a day of boating fun.
