Missionaries celebrate church’s anniversary Auburn Missionary Church celebrated its anniversary on Sunday, June 26 with Rev. Tom Dow, president of Emmanuel Bible College, Kitchener as guest speaker. His inspiring message was taken from II Corinthians 4: 7-12; and 16-18. Have you ever been tempted to lose heart, he asked. Have you ever been perplexed? The best and smartest thing to do is to serve the Lord and the right thing to do is to go forward with Christ. Rev. Dow said that in Corinthians Paul almost lost his life; he was persecuted, he was shipwrecked, he was beaten, but inwardly he was strong. If Jesus lives in us then there is something in us that cannot be destroyed, he said. We can be utterly wasting away on the outside but inwardly stronger and stronger in the Lord everyday. In chapter 12 Paul saw a vision of heaven. It is a glorious thing to be a Christian with our sins forgiven and we don't lose heart because there is the glory of heaven, Rev. Dow said. Special music for the anniversary was Paula Dettweiler of the Decision Quartette. Her solos There's a New Name Written Down in Glory; I'm going Forward in the Name of Jesus and He's in the Midst of the Storm were inspirational. In evening service the graduates of both elementary and secondary schools were honoured. Leslie and Dorothy Bolton of 12 Dunlop Dr. celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. The open house was held on Saturday, June 25 when many friends and relatives came to offer their congratulations and best wishes.
