Hay, talks of recycling The June meeting of Londesboro UCW was held at the church at 8 p.m. on Monday evening, June 20. The purpose was repeated in unison. The worship service was done by Margaret Wright and Dorothy Tamblyn. Dorothy gave a reading. Margaret read about the earth. For the Beauty of the Earth was sung. Dorothy led in prayer. Margaret read an article based on Psalm 104. This is my Father's World was sung. Prairie Women's Creed was repeated in unison. Dorothy closed Locals attend Toronto AAO conference Attending the AAO Conference held in Toronto June 10, 11 and 12 were Margaret Gruber, president of the Alzheimer Huron County Society and Sybil Straker, member of the board representing Wingham and area. They attended workshops dealing with Overcoming Challenging Behaviours dealing specifically with Aggression, Sundowning, Wandering and Agitation. While Ms Gruber attended a Session on Multi­ Service Agencies, Ms. Straker attended a session on the Grieving needs of the Caregivers. This dealt with losses in one's life in the past five years and asked the members to think how they felt, then suggested they think of these five years being crammed into a six month period, which is how the Alzheimer Caregiver feels, and has to cope. They talked about coping strategies and emotions. Sunday was a Plenary Session and the Annual General Meeting. They were left with the reminder to concentrate on establishing strong chapters and ensure the quality of care for the Alzheimer patient in long term care facilities, their mission being promoting and enhancing quality of life and to promote research into the cause, treatment and alleviation of the disease. Craigs enjoy day of games Continued from page 11 In the afternoon a game of ball with the 'inlaws' on one side and 'outlaws' on the other, proved to be a good way of getting to know everyone Annie Wight kept score and Stephanie Craig was umpire. After the ball game everyone sat down to a bountiful pot luck supper. There was a short meeting with Nancy Craig, Toronto president and Sandra Dudley, London secretary presiding. Olive Faitz, Stoney Creek had the misfortune of being overcome by the heat and went to Seaforth Hospital but was able to return home with her family at 8:30 in the evening. Those attending were from North Bay, Port Sydney, Toronto, Guelph, Stoney Creek, Hamilton, Kitchener, London, Stralhroy, Sarnia, Listowel, Monkton, Blyth and Walton. with prayer. The guest speaker, Susan Hay spoke on recycling. The minutes of the May meeting were read and seconded by Linda Horbanuik. The treasurer's report was given by Dorothy Tamblyn. A thank you was read from the vacation Bible School. The next meeting will be on Monday, Sept. 19. Cards will be sent for July, August and September from the UCW.
