Resident hosts house warming The community of Walton extends its sympathy to Vai Pethick and family on the loss of her father, Douglas Strasser of Sebringville, on Thursday. The Walton WI ladies prepared and served dinner to a bus load ol to play cards, visit and eat. Dave Baan gave a most interesting address, noting how the community has changed through the years. The family was presented with gifts. A good time was had by all. Well the talk of the town in people who stopped on their way to the Blyth Festival June 23. Since moving to this area I have learned that any excuse to have a party will do. So having said that the party that I am reporting about happened at the new home of Paul, Dianne, Cindy, Colleen and Kenny McCallum. Actually, it was a Walton this past weekend was of course the McGavin wedding. Jeff (Smiley) McGavin and Shannon Rice exchanged vows Saturday, June 25. The church was filled with friends and family as Shannon walked down the aisle. Graeme Craig played his guitar and sang before the service started and Margaret Whitmore played the organ. The Strong sisters sang throughout the service as well. After Rev. Banks introduced the community party from the people on the 17th line and boundary. I guess you could call it a Going Away and Welcome into your new Wheel Morgan Armstrong of Ethel enjoys a push from dad Bruce at the Grey Family Picnic held at Grey Central Public School on Sunday. Great weather saw a wonderful turnout. hear laughter. I learned later that all of Jeff's attendants had put on 'Nerd' glasses. The bell at the old Walton School rang many times and if you happened to notice the sign in front of McGavin's you would have read 'Jeff McGavin under new management.' It was a beautiful wedding and the reception was one to remember. Congratulations Jeff and Shannon. The weather couldn't have been more perfect for Bill and Marjory on June 26 as they hosted a Humphries family picnic. Around 35 family members attended the event and had a good time and visit. He announced that there will be regular service for the month of July. The ushers for that month will be John Gillis, Fred McClure and Sharon Godkin. The children came to the front and sang a three part round called the Garbage Round. Rev. Banks asked the kids to help him fill out the circle that had 10 wedge shapes in it. The kids had to tell him what they would buy if they had a dollar. After various answers like candy, hockey cards, and food, he soon had all but one wedge filled in. Upon asking what else they could do with the dollar he helped them consider giving some of it to the church, to help the poor and suffering. / Rev. Banks' sermon was called, "Paul’s Venture in Missions Programme." This was also the last day of Sunday School so the children went outside for some games and then filled up on hot dogs and ice cream. Many employees say that what they most desire in order to balance work and family is flexibility.
