THE CITIZEN, WEDNESDAY, JUNE 29, 1994. 41 attend Nethery-Leishman reunion Graduation The 49th annual Nethery- Leishman reunion was held on Sunday, June 26 at Hullett Central School, Londesboro, with 41 signing the register. Guests were present from Decker, Michigan, Orillia, Corunna, Mount Elgin, Hanover, Goderich, Clinton, Wingham, Blyth, Londesboro, Belgrave and surrounding district. Ella Ives of Blyth was in charge of the sports, which were enjoyed by all. Following the supper hour, the president John Nethery of Corunna conducted the meeting. He announced the deaths during the past year: Jenny Walsh, Wayne Shouldice, Florence Black, and Bert Garniss. A few moment's silence followed in remembrance. Special prizes were awarded by John Nethcry to: youngest person present, Rhea Virkutis of Clinton; oldest person present, Violet Cooper of Clinton; person coming the farthest, Marion Gray of Decker Michigan; recently married couple, Timothy and Patty Ives of Mount Elgin, Ont.; birthday nearest June 26, was Violet Cooper; guess-the- answer contest, Bonnie Jewitt; guessing number of candies in a jar, Jean Nethery; lucky plate by Gladys Van Camp and lucky cup by Timothy Ives. A treat of watermelon was given to everyone by John Nethery of Corunna and the reunion closed by singing Auld Lang Syne. The 1995 Nethery-Leishman reunion will be held on June 25 at Londesboro. President for next year is John Nethery of Corunna and secretary-treasurer is Mary Isabel Nethery of Belgrave. WI speaker discusses balanced lifestyle Mrs. Dorothy Coultes, Women's Institute president, welcomed members and friends to the June meeting. Following opening exercises Mrs. Coultes conducted a brief business meeting assisted by Diana Robinson, secretary-treasurer, who read the minutes of the last meeting and also gave the financial statement. Arrangements were made for future catering commit­ ments and get well cards were Travellers return home Laura Johnston of Belgrave and Jean Nethery, Blyth returned home from a trip to England, Scotland and Wales. They saw the Colour of the Troops parade with Queen Elizabeth and the Queen Mother riding in their open carriage and attended a Welsh and Scottish concert and toured many interesting sights. Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Young of Lucknow visited with his sister Mrs. Jean Wightman on Saturday. Mrs. Lorna Cook accompanied Mrs. Margaret Black of Lucknow Ethel last week to the lie d'Orleans, Quebec. They visited Miss Sieglinde Leeb in Saint Petronille. Calvin-Brick United Church held its Sunday School picnic at the home of Chris and Donna Palmer on Sunday, June 12 which was well attended. Members of the congregation presented a gift to Rev. Paul and Mrs. Boughton, who has been interim minister this past 11 months and who now is leaving for another charge. signed for two of the members. Audrey Fenton gave a report on the district annual meeting and members then answered the roll call with a health tip to improve mental or physical well being. Nancy Jardin welcome Carman Ives, the guest speaker, who emphasized the importance of a balance between emotional, physical and spiritual well being. Mrs. Ives elaborated further on the importance of a nutritious diet, regular exercise and a positive attitude to improve the quality of life. She also spoke on her work as a reflexologist. Mrs. Ives was thanked and presented with a token of appreciation by Mrs. Jardin. Following the meeting Mrs. Mary Hunter and Mrs. Gladys Van Camp served a delicious lunch, while members enjoyed a social time together. The July meeting will be a trip to the Drayton Theatre to see the play The Affections of May. Shirley Ann Bridge, daughter of Harold and Karen Bridge, Brussels graduated June 18, 1994 from Conestoga College, Kitchener with a diploma in Business Administration Accounting. Children enjoyed games, while their elders had a visit. Grace Smith and Doris Jacklin hosted 10 tables of euchre at the Ethel Hall Monday evening. Winners were: 50/50 Patsy O'Grady with Jim Smith and Elmer Best receiving smaller prizes; high man, Stewart Musgrove; low man, Harold Coulter; high lady, Isabel Bremner; low lady, Shirley Ver- stoep; most lone hands, Helen Dob­ son and Walter Harrifield; tally card draws, Dorothy Hamilton, Keith Turnbull, Bill Dobson, June Jacklin, Violet Smith, Hilda Holmes, Elgin Adams, Verna Crawford and Mel Jacklin. The next euchre will by July 4. Sympathy is extended to Doris and Archie Jacklin and Edith and Charlie Stevenson and families on the recent loss of Alec Hall, a for­ mer Atwood resident.
