Londesboro Lions members in front, from left are: Bruce Vincent, John Hoggart and Ron Nesbitt. ___________ Blyth Mosquitoes take Lucknow 4- 3 UP TO 100 The Blyth Mosquito Lightning team went to Wingham on June 16 to find Wingham very sharp. Blyth struggled the whole game and tried their best but not once were rewarded for their efforts. Wingham won 5-0. On June 20, Lucknow came to Blyth for an enjoyable game. Goals were exchanged throughout the game. Blyth managed to come out on top with a 4-3 victory. Jeremy VanAmersfoort scored all four goals, being set up three times by David Ansley. Jud Hakkers got two assists and Aron Baker assisted on one. On June 23 the team played against Goderich McDonalds. In the first half each team got on the scoreboard with one goal. Jeremy set up David for Blyth's only goal. Goderich came out strong in the second half with three unanswered goals to give them a 4-1 win. On June 13, the Blyth Mosquito Thunder team also had a tough time against Goderich McDonalds. Jennifer Godfrey set up David Ansley for the only goal for Blyth. The Brussels Tigers were "in the money" on the weekend bringing home the B championship from the Seaforth Fastball Tournament. Friday night KW Pride handed the Tigers their only loss of the tournament, a 9-0 mercy. Gary Pipe went two for two in a game that saw only five Tigers reach base. Saturday the Tigers broke open a 1-1 tie with five runs in the fifth inning enroute to a 10-1 win over the Walton Brewers. Doug Conley batted four for four while Ken Higgins added a sixth inning grand slam. Sunday morning the Tigers scored in the first and fourth innings for a 2-0 lead, then survived a seventh inning bases loaded none out situation to edge the Lieury Jets 2-1. Mike Watson, Gary Pipe and Doug Shaw all batted two for three. Sunday afternoon's championship game saw the Tigers, trailing 2-1 after four innings, tie the game in the fifth, take the lead in the sixth, then score three insurance runs in the seventh for a 6-2 win over Squirts Boys ’82 lose to Wingham During this past week the Brussels Squirt Boys '82' team continued their busy June schedule with a home-and-home series against a solid Wingham. Ron Strome batted four for four including a three run homer while Todd Uhrig struck out 12. He has forgotten, too, Abraham Lincoln, a dedicated Christian who legislated an end to the dreaded slave trade in the United States. And what shall I say about Wilberforce, Egerton Ryerson, David Livingston and Martin Luther King? The list of Christians who bettered their world is endless, but one must be open-minded enough to acknowledge that.
