Area Encore girls dance in Guelph Four local girls completed a year of dance instruction at Encore Dance Studio this past week, per­ forming in Dancing with Disney for some 400 people at Guelph's E.L. Fox Auditorium on Saturday night. The girls are students of Deanna Clatworthy, director/instructor, who has studios in Listowel and Elmira . Anne Yuzwa-Reilly, seven, a daughter of Kim and Fron, RR3, Brussels and Katie Emmrich, 11, daughter of Clint and Judy, Walton, are first year jazz students. Katie was one of 10 young dancers who performed to Dreams from Sleep­ ing Beauty while Anne was one of 15 mermaids to dance to Under the Moxy Fruvous returns to Blyth First the U.S. tour, then the British tour and then a return to Blyth! The very popular Moxy Fruvous will perform two concerts at Blyth Memorial Hall on Sunday, July 3, at 2 p.m. and 8:30 p.m., as part of the Blyth Festival's 1994 Special Events Series. While Moxy Fruvous can't be found in the dictionary, it's a good name for this unique band whose funny, heartfelt songs have garnered vast media attention in the past few years. This Toronto quartet fuses smart quirky lyrics (Green Eggs and Ham) with a broad range of musical styles that delight their audiences from nine to 90. Songs like My Baby Loves A Bunch of Authors and The Gulf War Song use goofiness and intelligence to make a person listen and then laugh. Success has come swiftly and beyond the wildest dreams of the super-talented foursome who came together to busk in 1990 while still at university. Their first recording in 1992 quickly rose to number one Sea. Laurin Hoegy, 6, is in her second year of ballet. A daughter of Merle and Rhonda of Brussels, Laurin, along with five other ballerinas did their routine to Spoonful of Sugar from Mary Poppins. Ashley Gropp, 12, is in her fifth year of jazz at Encore. A daughter of Mark and Bonnie of Brussels she was part of a group of nine who performed to Tribal Dance as well as being part of a lyrical ensemble who danced to A Whole New World from Aladdin. Ashley also performed with the ensemble group at the Friday evening show for the Elmira Encore Studio group. on the charts and remained there for a year. This was followed by their 1993 album Bargainville which has moved beyond the platinum level.
