Moxy Fruvous
returns to Blyth
First the U.S. tour, then the
British tour and then a return to
Blyth! The very popular Moxy
Fruvous will perform two concerts
at Blyth Memorial Hall on Sunday,
July 3, at 2 p.m. and 8:30 p.m., as
part of the Blyth Festival's 1994
Special Events Series.
While Moxy Fruvous can't be
found in the dictionary, it's a good
name for this unique band whose
funny, heartfelt songs have
garnered vast media attention in the
past few years. This Toronto
quartet fuses smart quirky lyrics
(Green Eggs and Ham) with a
broad range of musical styles that
delight their audiences from nine to
90. Songs like My Baby Loves A
Bunch of Authors and The Gulf
War Song use goofiness and
intelligence to make a person listen
and then laugh.
Success has come swiftly and
beyond the wildest dreams of the
super-talented foursome who came
together to busk in 1990 while still
at university. Their first recording
in 1992 quickly rose to number one
Sea.
Laurin Hoegy, 6, is in her second
year of ballet. A daughter of Merle
and Rhonda of Brussels, Laurin,
along with five other ballerinas did
their routine to Spoonful of Sugar
from Mary Poppins.
Ashley Gropp, 12, is in her fifth
year of jazz at Encore. A daughter
of Mark and Bonnie of Brussels she
was part of a group of nine who
performed to Tribal Dance as well
as being part of a lyrical ensemble
who danced to A Whole New World
from Aladdin.
Ashley also performed with the
ensemble group at the Friday
evening show for the Elmira
Encore Studio group.
on the charts and remained there

their 1993 album Bargainville
which has moved beyond the
platinum level.

political, funny and adventurous
songs of Moxy Fruvous at Blyth
