Silipo to dedicate new CAS
The Children's Aid Society of
Huron County is having the official
opening of the New Huron CAS
Family Resource Centre in
Goderich on Friday, June 3 at 5:30
p.m.
The Honourable Mr. Tony Silipo,
Minister of Community and Social
Services will be on hand to
dedicate the new centre to the
children of Huron County. Last fall
students from schools across the
county placed their wishes for
tomorrow's child in a treasure chest
buried in the floor of the
community meeting room. The
chest will be opened in the year
2011 to mark the 100th anniversary
of the society in Huron County.
More recently, hundreds of
children donated their art work to
the Agency. One hundred pieces
were selected to be framed and
permanently hung in the Centre.
"The children's support of projects
will be recognized with the
dedication of the building in their
honour and by the events that are
planned around the opening," said
chairperson Joan Van de Broeck.
Parents can meet the Kids on the
Block puppets and talk to staff as
their children are entertained by
clowns, children's songwriters and
musicians, the Magpies, face
painters and a magician!
This celebration has been
designed with families in mind.
Hamburgers and a drink can be
purchased for $1.
• Injuries cost the Canadian health
care system over $13.2 billion each
year.
