The cost of the facilities required to provide the services described would be but a fraction of the costs outlined to either divide CHSS or to build a new Catholic high school in Huron County, dealing more likely in thousands of dollars as opposed to millions of dollars. This is 1994, not 1974, and it is Huron County, not suburban Toronto. In conclusion, please consider the preceding proposal for the merits that it holds and for the tax dollars that it would free-up, leaving funds available for health care or other much needed services in Huron communities. It would be sad to lose an opportunity to truly harmonize and strengthen our community and to miss the chance to demonstrate to others that Huron is an innovative leader education. Wm. Steenstra, Chairperson, CHSS Parents' Liaison Committee. THE CITIZEN, WEDNESDAY, MAY 25, 1994. PAGE 7. Pastor baptizes McClure twins Marie and Bill Coutts were greeters at Duffs United Church on Pentecost Sunday, May 15. Quite a few people wore red, the liturgical colour for Pentecost. Geoffrey Banks and Ryan Brubacher reported that Erich Lenz came to school with news he now has a new baby brother. Congratu lations to the Lenz family. When will he bring him in for Show and Tell? The community also welcomes home Bill and Marjory Humphries who have been to Halifax, where their son Paul recently moved. They saw a lot of the sights and really liked what they saw. They did encounter a bad snow storm on their way there. Baseball is in full swing now and the Walton park has men and women slow pitch games every night next week at 9. Come on out and cheer for your favourite team. Jim Reed, a former reporter for the T.V. show W5 will be guest Rev. Banks told of the death of two Bluevale members who will be sadly missed, Vera Nicholson and Isobelle Wheeler. Rev. Banks called all the children forward to sit in the front pews so they could help welcome into the church through holy baptism, Luke and Curtis McClure, twin sons of Carl and Tara. Viola Kirkby assisted Rev. Banks and introduced each newly baptized child to the congregation. The babies enjoyed meeting everyone and Curtis didn't want to leave Viola's arms so soon. Kenny McCallum, cousin to the twins poured the water into the font. The congregation sang Out of Deep Unordered Water. Rev. Banks's sermon was called, speaker at Duffs United, June 12. The Bankses had the pleasure of having him come to their house last week to discuss the topic of his address. He has been to Israel and 'Dry Bones Disunited Church'. It Palestine and has witnessed the battles that go on there and interviewed the leaders. He has much knowledge of the situation and wants to share it. He has named his message, 'The Unholy Land.' It is a chance to learn and become more aware, and to perhaps get an answer to the question that so many people ask, 'Why are the Arabs and the Jews fighting?' From the book Illustrations Unlimited I read this little joke called "A Child is listening". One day a young mother and her kindergarten-age son were driving down the street. The inquisitive little boy asked, "Mommy, why do the idiots only come out when Daddy drives. was a story about Pastor Zeke Yeel (Rev. Banks's fictional character) from Dry Bones Disunited Church, and his struggle with a dying church. He asks himself the question that God asked Ezekiel in the valley of dry bones, "Can these bones live?" He came across a story in one of his sermon preparation resources and learned how an Anglican priest helped bring about life to her dying charge. After reading her story he could say, "Yes, these bones can live." Then Pastor Yeel remembered that this Sunday he was baptizing a baby and he realized that the bones at Dry Bones Disunited Church just may live.
