ordered new team shirts. The new
design features a large burgundy b,
backed by flames. We feel that the
original design was better done, it
had brighter colours and more
flames.

he said. "It could have been much
worse."

Maitland Presbyterial and
Hamilton-London Synodical
members of the Maitland
Presbyterial experienced a busy
time recently as they hosted the
Synodical meeting on April 19 and
20 and held their Spring Rally on
May 2.
The Synodical of Hamilton-
London includes nine presbyterials
so meetings in this area are nearly
10 years apart. This year St.
Andrew's Presbyterian Church,
Wingham was the meeting place
when over 200 WMS members
spent two days learning more about
their role in "Partnership in
Mission", this year's theme.
Agnes Bregman of Teeswater is
Synodical President and conducted
the various programs. The guest
speaker on Tuesday afternoon was
Tamiko Corbett, the executive
secretary, and Kay Cowper, council
president brought greetings.
The Maitland Presbyterial were
responsible for a musical program
that evening which included
selections by the Sunday School
choir from Ashfield, the
MacDonald Sisters - Marion
Mundell, Gorrie; Helen Brisbin,
Guelph and Peggy Henderson,
Lucknow, an Easter mini-musical
by the choirs of St. Andrew's
Eileen Chambers, Molesworth, The
South Kinloss trio of Ruth Bell,
Rena Forster and Shirley Colwell,
Susan Lindsay, Teeswater and the
Teeswater Connection - Chris
Johnston and Janice Ballagh
accompanied by Alan Grant.
Next year the Synodical meeting
will be hosted by Niagara
Presbyterial and will be held in
Drummond Hill Presbyterian
Church in Niagara Falls.
David and Miriam Barrie were
the guests speakers at the Spring
Rally held in Lucknow
Presbyterian Church May 2. They
had a farm near Galt where they
specialized in growing asparagus.
In 1990 they went as volunteer
missionaries to Malawi, Africa to
oversee the Domasi Agricultural
Extension program where David
encourages small scale farming
including poultry, vegetable and
fish farming. They showed slides of
their work and the area where they
lived and were able to answer many
questions from the interested
audience.
The theme of Partnership in
Mission was carried on for this
meeting that had been introduced at
the Synodical.
Following a salad supper, served
by the Lucknow ladies, Erlma
Haldenby, presbyterial president,
welcomed everyone and opened the
meeting with the call to worship
and prayer.
The worship service was
presented by Brussels with Helen
Elliott giving the scripture from
Romans 12 and the meditation on
the theme. She said the work of
missions has changed from the time
missionaries were sent out and
money was sent to support them.
Now there is more sharing as we
join churches from other countries
in a common purpose. Partnership
requires equality, hard work, caring
and the use of the gifts God has
given us, she said. Isobel Gibson
led in prayer.
Mary Wray and Joan MacKay of
Ripley led in the In Memoriam
service remembering former
members who have passed away.
Audrey Boron of Kincardine was
presented with an Honorary
Membership Certificate by Barbara
Burton in recognition of her
faithfulness.
Others taking part in the program
included Joanne Vanderveen,
Lucknow with two beautiful solos;
Margaret Underwood, Gorrie,
Offertory prayer; introduction of
guest speakers, Kathleen Elliott,
Whitechurch; thank you, Mayme
Wilkins, Ashfield; courtesies to all
who had taken part, Marjorie Wall,
Wingham and closing prayer,
Isobel Thompson, Kinlough.
