The 92nd district annual meeting of the Women's Institute was held in Gorrie on May 10. The members elected the executive for the upcoming year. Alma McCallum and Pat Sparling were in charge of the devotions. Mother's Day was the theme and hymns, readings and prayer given, relevant to this occasion were done. Catherine Caldwell prepared the study on Aids. Catherine informed everyone present that there is information readily available in the area through the Huron County Health Unit in Clinton. President Bonnie Shannon conducted the business for this meeting. The new minister Rev. Stephen Huntley and family will be arriving in Blyth, June 29. May 21 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. is the garage sale. Then on May 25 at 8 p.m. there is the annual Mother's Day Tea. On May 26 at 8 p.m. the Knox UCW Belgrave has invited Blyth UCW to their Spring Thankoffering. Babysitting is available at the monthly meetings. Candice Howson is in charge at this meeting. A lovely lunch was prepared by Joan Caldwell, Dorothy Daer, Selena Machan and Bernice McClinchey, which was served by Dorothy and Bernice. The coffee table book needs more pictures of such things as older style kitchens, chairs or wedding gifts from each decade. There are still spots available at the ACWW mini-conference being held at Geneva Park, Orillia in June. Christmas balls from 1993 are still available and the new ones for 1994 will be on sale. Women's Institute members are urged to give their support to keeping the Ontario Agriculture museum open. The ROSS people are now called Rural Community Advisors. Jean Clarkson, program co­ ordinator, highlighted the speakers, mottos, and activities of the branches for the year and suggested that a program be planned on "Positive Attitudes." Leone Foerter gave the Nomina­ tions Committee report and Renate Ross installed the officers for 1994-95. Molesworth branch won the District Banner competition and the District will pay the expense to have the banner completed and ready for the centennial celebra­ tions in June 1997. Workshops for all offices are being contemplated for next winter and will be open to all members to attend. Margaurite Beirnes gave the courtesies for the day and issued an invitation to Molesworth in 1995 for the 93rd District Annual meeting. The District Directors meeting is scheduled for Sept. 13 at Erland Thornton's home in Gorrie.
