Schneider Haus tradition continues The 13th annual Joseph Schneider Haus Quilting Bee is a tradition not to be missed. This year the Schneiders to be held May 21-23 will be featuring Log Cabin quilts, both old and new, and as always the display promises to be spectacular. Although Log Cabin is one of the most traditional patterns, the variety of fabric, colour and design is endless. As in past years, one of the highlights of Quilting Bee is the presence of local Mennonite quilters who will demonstrate their skills throughout the weekend. Visitors can watch these "experts" at work and then try their hand at quilting themselves. Beautiful contemporary quilts made by local Mennonite church groups for the New Hamburg Relief Sale will also be previewed at Quilting Bee. Each afternoon, local quilter and 1992 Folk Artist-In-Residence, Kathy Bissett, will be at the Museum to demonstrate the design and construction of Log Cabin quilts. Schneider Haus staff will also be demonstrating how quilted clothing was made in the 19th century. A new tradition is the announce ment of the winners of the 1994 Quilt Block Contest on Monday at 2. This year the contest has attracted entries from Australia, Japan, England and Canada, making the results even more exciting. Contest guidelines for 1995 are available at the Museum during Quilting Bee weekend. No Quilting Bee would be complete without some tasty treats and the Schneiders will be serving traditional Pennsylvania German favourites from the kitchen all weekend. > iffI ATTENTION GUN OWNERS Come To The Gun Control Legislation Forum Sponsored by Huron Fish & Game Conservation Association Thursday, May 26 8 p.m. Belmore Community Centre Featuring Panelists...
