[Compiled by Helen Stonehouse Phone 887-9487 50 gather for crokinole The confirmation classes of Belgrave Knox United Church and Calvin-Brick United Church held a very successful crokinole party on Friday, April 29 in the Belgrave United Church Sunday School room with about 50 people attending. Eleven tables were in play. Prizes were given to Marc Alexander, high man; Sarah Cowan, highest lady; David Piluke, lowest man; Michelle Pletch, lowest lady. The score closest to 330 went to Cathy Walker while the score closest to 560 went to Michael McBurney. Jeremy Campbell captured the prize for scoring the most 20s with Karen, Kendra and Devin Moffatt receiving prizes for the most family members attending. Refreshments were served. Everyone had an enjoyable evening, thanks to the Confirmation class. The next crokinole party will be. Friday, May 13 at 7:30 p.m. O. Bolt wins in euchre Nine tables of euchre were in play Wednesday, May 4 in the WI Hall, Belgrave. Winners were: high lady, Olive Bolt; second high, Brenda Perrie; lone hands, Lois Chamney; low lady, Marj Coultes; high man, Harvey Edgar; second high, Laura Johnson (playing as a man); lone hands, Stuart Chamney; low man, Kay Rich (playing as a man). There will be euchre again next Wednesday, May 11 at 8 p.m. thanked everyone for coming. Mrs. Allan Lcishman and Mrs. John Nixon conducted two word games and Mrs. Ken Procter delighted everyone with musical numbers. Mrs. Vil Jerva wrote an excellent biography of Jennifer's life in rhyme. Candace and Nicole Procter and Ellen Procter passed the gifts to Jennifer to open. Kate and her mother assisted. Jennifer thanked everyone for the lovely gifts and for coming. Mrs. McIntosh announced this day was also Jennifer's mom's birthday. Everyone sang Happy Birthday and a large cake with lighted candles was carried out by Mrs. Allan Leishman. A delicious buffet lunch was served and a good time was had by all. Congratulations to Shawn Galbraith of Belgrave who placed first with 81 points in classical guitar at the Walkerton Rotary Music Festival, Wednesday, May 4. Carleigh Galbraith also received 81 points at the festival in piano. Cancer canvass in Belgrave and area was a great success. A total of $3,513.25 was collected. Jane Grasby appreciates the willing canvassers who gave their time to go door to door. The generous support of the community enabled them to surpass last year's total. Mr. and Mrs. George Johnston and Erin of Ilderton, Mr. and Mrs. Gary Leitch of London and Jeff Leitch and Jenn Shelton of Walerdown spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Robert Grasby and Mrs. Laura Johnston on Mother's Day weekend. Barbara Coultes spent Mother's Day weekend with her mother Mrs. Janisa Coultes. Mr. and Mrs. Brian Storer, Crystal a’nd Adam of Kitchener, Mr. and Mrs. Larry Mayberry and Darryl of Londesboro and Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Cook, RR 1, Belgrave visited with Mrs. Ruby Hanna on the weekend. Mrs. Beth Procter is a patient in Wingham and District Hospital. We hope you will soon be home Beth. Visitors on Mother's Day with Mrs. Agnes Bieman were Mrs. John Leppington of Clinton, Mrs. Roger Bieman of RR 2, Lucknow and George Inglis of RR 1, Belgrave. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Vincent, Mrs. Dorothy Logan, and Mrs. Hilda Vincent attended the 80th birthday parly of lheir cousin, Harvey McDowell of Blyth on Sunday al Snell's Restaurant. Mrs. Ruth Gordon will show slides and be the guest speaker al the Women's Institute meeting on May 17 at 8 p.m. Visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Slonchousc this past week were Mrs. Lillian Johnson of Mississauga, Mrs. Muriel Gamiss of Brussels and Mrs. Audrey MacKay of RR 5, Wingham.
