Peter Pan.. .the musical will be Paul’s Perspective Continued from page 19 taking place. For the first time, parents have been given a direct voice in the development of provincial education policy through the establishment of the Ontario Parent Council. Minister of Education and Training Dave Cooke will be involved in a number of activities during Education and Training Week, including a Math Symposium in Toronto on May 5 and 6. Parents, teachers and math experts from around the province will work together at this symposium to develop recommendations to the Minister on how to improve student achievement in mathematics. Their report will be shared with the public as soon as it's available. I look forward to Education and Training Week because it's a good opportunity to find out first hand what is happening in our educational system. Any time I've been able to see our schools in action, I have always been truly impressed with the ability of students and the dedication of their teachers I urge all of you to find out about events in your neighbourhood schools and see for yourself how well our schools are performing. Let's all celebrate Education and Training Week. Bake Sale and Bottle Drive For Blyth Scouts Canada SATURDAY, MAY 7 9 A.M. TO NOON Bake sale will be held in front of Memorial Hall. There will be door-to-door canvass for bottles in Blyth, Auburn &, Londesboro directed and choreographed by Playhouse Artistic Director and General Manager Max Reimer and sponsored by Big V Drug Stores. The next offering for the season will be the comedy that has been a sensation on Broadway, London's West End and across Canada, Ken Ludwig's Lend Me a Tenor (July 5 - July 16). Returning from last year's hit Out Of Order is funnyman Paul Brown as the ambitious Max and Shelly Paterson as the slinky diva, Diana. Lend me a Tenor will be directed by Max Reimer and sponsored by Oke Woodsmith Building Systems and 3M. Twists, turns and sudden shocks wil keep you spellbound until the very last minute in Ira Levin's Deathtrap (July 19 - July 30). This ingeniously constructed play offers a rare and skillful blending of two priceless theatrical ingredients - gasp-inducing thrills and spontaneous laughter. Guest director, Brian MacKay. Jill Frappier, who stole Barefoot In The Park as Mrs. Banks, is returning to play the frail wife, Myra, who, among others, is caught in this Deathtrap. Not Now, Darling (August 2 - August 13) by Ray Cooney and John Chapman makes fun of attempted infidelity and the tangle of misunderstandings with suspicious wives, mistaken identities, scantily clad girls and a continuous barrage of rapid-fire jokes. Rodgers and Hammerstein's romantic music will fill the Playhouse auditorium as their classic musical Oklahoma! (August 16 - September 3) closes the Main Stage season. Based on Lynn Rigg's Green Grow The Lilacs, Oklahoma! opened on Broadway on March 31, 1943. Max Reimer will direct and choreograph a cast of 30 in the dances which made musical theatre history as originally choreographed by Agnes de Mille. In Playhouse II, the smaller, more intimate, A Closer Walk with Palsy Cline (July 5 - July 23) written and directed by Dean Regan stars Marie Bottrell as one of the all-time legends of country music. Following this will be Hank Williams: The Show He Never Gave (July 26 - August 13) by Maynard Collins, directed by David Naim. This concert/cabaret is based on some known facts and a few legends of America's first country superstar.
