Hullett students take flight THE CITIZEN, WEDNESDAY, MAY 4, 1994. PAGE 21. Brussels PS plans concert By Amy Wilts, Shannon Scott, Tammy Vincent and Angie Konarski COLOURS IN THE SKY Mr. Livermore's class in Science was busy making homemade kites for their flight unit. On Friday afternoon, April 22, they had their chance to see their inventions in flight. The day was excellent as far as the wind goes, and the students achieved great success, as the sky was filled with colourful objects. In Social Studies the students are working on an Early Indian project. A TOUCH OF SPRING Hullett Central's Spring Concert which was held on Thursday, April 28 was a great success. The program consisted of the school band, the senior choir and Soprano, Soprano, Alto choir, the kinder garten class, Mrs. Walters Grade 1/2 class, the Grade 6 class and the Grade 7/8 operetta. Mrs. Kemp's kindergarten class put on a well done play about Spring! Each of the children were dressed up as a Spring character and a song was sung about each character. A FARMER AND HIS GOATS Mrs. Walter's Grade 1/2 was also involved in the spring program held on Thursday, April 28 at Hullett Central School. Their play was about a farmer and his three goats. When the farmer took his goats into the field to graze they didn't want to come out when it was time to go home. Several different animals tried to bribe them into coming out but they still resisted. Then comes along a little bumble bee who chased the three goats back home. THE KING WHO THOUGHT HE COULD SING The Grade 6 put on a play called The King Who Thought He Could Sing. In this play the king thought he could sing so he gathered all the people and had a rock concert. The real band played loud so nobody could hear the king. After the rock concert he had a very sore throat. The king ended up just singing in the bath tub. IT TAKES A WIZARD The Grade 7 and 8s had acted out a play called It Takes a Wizard. The play was about a king who was very short and was always made fun of by the jester and the lone heckler. The king had set out to find the sleeping beauty to make her his queen. We would like to give a special thanks to Mrs. Postma who had spent countless hours making all the colourful costumes. We would also like to thank Mrs. Bosman, Miss Anderson, Mr. Medd, Mr. Talbot and all of the behind stage people. With everyone’s participa tion the play was a big success. By Anita Little and Amber Ruttan Writing The Citizen report is an important task in Mrs. Pcrric's Grade eight class. There arc usually two people working on the report. They have to collect information about events they think the public would like to hear about. They go around to various classrooms asking for their attitudes towards plays that they are in, or what they are looking forward to. The report is written on the computer. With the computer there are many advantages. It doesn't take as long to write. It is easier for a teacher to check for spelling because the computer has spell check. The report is then printed and faxed to The Citizen for publication in the paper the following week. EARTH DAY By Vincent Bauer Earth is to work and to play. Ask yourself what I can do for the earth. Rah! The sun is out to warm us. The tree looks nice and so does the lawn. Help keep the earth clean. Day is nice. All day put garbage in cans. You can do your part for the earth. ***** The school's spring concert is coming to the gym nearest you. It's all happening here at Brussels Public on Thursday, May 5. And you're invited to come and watch the "Old MacDonald" concert theme. This play is very unique. They have a dress code so don't forget your overalls. There's going to be singing, dancing, acting, and much more to see that night. They're sure to have you laughing out of your workboots. The Grade eight class has been working on artist projects. They had to pick an artist to write a short report on. This was as special report because they had a chance to choose their own grade. Each grade had certain requirements and the more work you had done the better grade you got. The requirements for Grade A and B were that you had to do an oral report in front of the class, you had to have an interview, guest speaker, or a piece of the artist's work. The artists have ranged from famous artists, to friends, family and the not so well-known artists. Students have had fun sharing their artist, and his/her work with the rest of the class. Clinton Spring Fair is having its annual Youth Talent Search on June 4 at 7 p.m. If you can sing, dance, play an instrument, do acrobatics, skip to music, they would love to sec you there. They will have a stage, a piano and an excellent sound system. LAKEFRONT TRAILER PARK / Large 50' x 70' lots / Located 2 miles south of Goderich on Hwy. 21 SEASONAL SITES AVAILABLE ’750.
