Seniors plan for convention

The April meeting of Londesboro
Happy Gang Seniors was held al
the Hall on Wednesday, April 27. It
began at 12:30 p.m. with a pot luck
dinner.
The meeting was opened with O
Canada, after which a minute's
silence was held in memory of
Helen Lawson.
Edythe read a poem entitled, The
Average Man.
Minutes of the January and
March meetings were read and
approved. Reta Kelland gave the
financial report.
Thank you was read from the
Lawson family. There was an
invitation to Huronlea, Brussels,
Friday, June 3 at 12:30 p.m. Cost
for lunch is $5. The club will pay
up to $100 for the Seniors
Convention in Ottawa.
School awards will be given in
June.
It was decided that $150 will be
paid for hall rent.
Harry Lear spoke about the
Senior Games, to be held June 20
and 21 at Strathroy.
Three carnations will be sent to
the funeral home in memory of
members who pass away, it was
decided. The schedule for May is
cakes, Addie Hunking; ice cream,
Isabelle Scanlon; kitchen help,
Margaret Good and Hazel Watkins.
There were six tables of euchre.
Winners were: ladies' high,
Morris Council
approves temp,
zone change
The Bluevale Recreation area
received approval for a temporary
use bylaw from Morris Twp. coun
cil on April 19, to allow a tractor
pull to be held at the site in June.
The temporary zoning change
application proposed one tractor
pull per year for three years and to
allow the construction of basketball
courts.
The recreation committee will be
applying for an amendment to the
Morris Twp. Secondary Plan, but
an amendment would not be final
ized by June.
Council advised Bluevale Recre
ation to wait before proceeding
with preparations until the appeal
period has passed.
Council agreed to donate gravel
and apply it to the Bluevale Ball
Park driveway and to share the cost
with Turn berry Twp.
Subject to approval from the
Ministry of Natural Resources,
Morris Twp. council will donate

Thirteen tables of euchre were in
play at the WI Hall, Belgrave last
Wednesday evening.
Winners were: high lady, Agnes

Mi ss Mae Coulter of Aylmer
spent a few days this past week
with Mr. and Mrs. Cliff Walsh. She
also called on Mr. and Mrs. Lewis
Stonehouse.
Mrs. Rena Montgomery and her
son Alex of Guelph visited recently
with her mother Mrs. Jean
Wightman.
Alicia Makas spent the weekend
with her grandmother, Mrs. Mabel
Wheeler.
Mrs. Ruth Johnston accompanied
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Armstrong,
Brittany and Andrew on Tuesday
afternoon where they visited with
Mr. and Mrs. Grant MacLean of

Library to open evenings
Mabel's Moms met at the home

evenings from 7-9 p.m. until the

D. Michie celebrates 80th
Friends and family of Doris
Michie gathered at an open house
at the Women's Institute Hall in
Belgrave on Sunday afternoon,
May 1 to celebrate her 80th
birthday.
In the evening a family dinner for
75 people was held at the Belgrave
Community Centre.
Family members were in
attendance from Calgary, Sauli Ste.
Marie, Toronto, London, Kitchener
and surrounding area.

One of the 1st Fullarton Beavers watches closely while this
man nets a big trout from the pond at Cook's. Despite the
cool, dreary weather, members of the pack, adults and
leaders who had visited the Fish Out Pond near Belgrave
on Saturday for an outing managed to have a pretty good
