Pastor talks on ‘The Believer: Sheep, Shepherd’
Greeters at Blyth United Church
Sunday, April 24 were Albert and
Nancy Wasson. Ushers were Emily
and Karen Phillips, Lori Falconer
and Linda Stewart.
The quartet of Garth Walden,
Dan Snell, Shane Snell and John
McDowell opened the service by
singing Climbing up the Mountain.
The theme of the service was the
good shepherd.
For the message to the children,
Rev. Jock Tolmay showed them a
large coloured picture of Jesus. He
asked them what was the first thing
they saw. Their response was Jesus,
Stratford pastor at CRC
The Blyth CRC congregation
welcomed Rev. Geleynse of
Stratford to the pulpit for both
services on Sunday.
The scripture reading was taken
from 2 Corinthians 1: 1-7 and
Romans 14: 7,8. The sermon text
was taken from the Heidelberg
Catechism Lord's Day 1. The
sermon was entitled, The Gospel in
Terms of Relationships.
Rev. Geleynse asked the
Koch family sings at service
Sunday, April 24 was Covenant
Renewal Sunday at Brussels
Mennonite Fellowship, Lloyd Koch
was song leader, with daughter,
Angie Koch as pianist. The Koch
Family also provided special music
for the service.
Pastor Tom Warner preached
from Philippines 2: 1-11. Covenant
renewal continued through the
Christian Education Hour for the
Missionaries hear sax trio
The congregation at Auburn
Missionary Church heard a
saxophone trio consisting of Doran
Rolston, Doug Rennick and Will
Jardine. The playing of the Old
Rugged Cross was inspirational.
Their offertory number was He
Touched Me.
Helen Baumbach's solo was a
medley of songs consisting of
Sweet Hour of Prayer, I Need Thee
sheep and water.
He said that Jesus and the good
shepherd carried the long stick to
chase away such things as wild
dogs. "Thy rod and thy staff will
comfort us and guide and protect
everyone."
Barb Richmond was in charge of
junior congregation.
The quartet sang another number
entitled This World is not My Own.
Rev. Jock Tolmay delivered an
inspiring sermon on The Believer:
Sheep and Shepherd".
Lance Bearss gave the Minute for
Missions. He talked about the Food
Grains Bank and read passages
congregation the question, "Where
do you belong?" Most would say to
families, children, husbands or
wives. Throughout the Bible God
has told of his special relationship
with his people. God sent Jesus to
Earth to die for them. Jesus bought
the people with his blood so that
they might all have a special
relationship with their father. So,

should belong to our families we
should also belong body and soul
adults. The congregation was given
an opportunity to publicly renew
individual covenants with God and
with BMF.
A fellowship meal and social
time were held after the Worship
Service.
Marilyn Jones, president of
Women's Aglow, was guest
speaker at the Ladies Fellowship
Meeting on Tuesday, April 19.

Pastor Came's message, A Table
In The Wilderness was based on
Psalm 78: 1-29. "Can God furnish a
table in the wilderness?" he asked.
"Can He provide when there are no
provisions?"
If God can't provide a table in the

Susan Howson talked about the
first ever non-racial election to be
held on April 27 in South Africa.
She read a prayer that was sent
from South Africa to be read in all
churches.

were from the funeral of Harriet
Wood.

HELEN LAWSON
Mrs. Helen Irene Lawson of Lon-
desboro passed away at Clinton
Public Hosptial on Tuesday, April
19, 1994. She was 66.
Bom March 7, 1928, the former
Helen Turner was the daughter of
the late John Edwin Turner and
Pearl Irene Crich.
Mrs. Lawson was a school teach
er for many years prior to her
retirement. She was a member of
the Londesboro United Church and
its UCW, the Londesboro Women's
Institute and the local senior's club.
Left to mourn her passing most
deeply are her husband Reginald T.
Lawson and her children John and
his wife Wendy of London and
Elizabeth Lawson of Londesboro.
She was the dear sister of George
Tuner and his wife Nancy of RR4,
Seaforth. Mrs. Lawson is also sur
vived by many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at
Londesboro United Church on
Thursday, April 21 at 1:30 p.m.
with Rev. Paul Ross officiating.

The Salvation Army is once
again preparing for its annual Cross
Canada "Red Shield" campaign.
The May fundraiser is used to
help the battle against poverty, loss
of dignity and hopelessness, says
Captain Ray Scott of the Wingham
Salvation Army
The Salvation Army will be dis-
tributing envelopes, through the
mail, which will list its work and
provide an opportunity for financial
support.
It is involved in childrens' vil
lages, emergency welfare pro
grams, alcohol and drug recovery
programs, suicide prevention, shel
ters and many others.

College hosts WZ workshop
Women's Institutes of London
Area held a very successful
workshop, "At Your Request" at
Centralia College, April 7. There
were approximately 125 members
and friends in attendance. The
workshop evolved from sugges
tions from members at the 1993
London Area Convention.
Dolores Shapton, Gladys
Egelton, and Hilde Motden
designed the workshop. Several
members of the London Area
executive assisted in various ways.
President Margaret Dale chaired
the day.
The various topics covered were
personal planning, estate planning,
program possibilities, display
awareness, herbs and spices and
"Take Care of Yourself'.
Each speaker covered their topic
well and had helpful handouts.
