Brussels ball diamond was put to good use on Sunday afternoon as some sports enthusiasts
started spring training.

The Durham Thundercats
claimed the 1994 WOAA Grand
Championship with a 3-0 win over
the Ripley Wolves Saturday in
Durham.
The win gave Durham, who
advanced to the finals by
eliminating Arthur, Brussels and
Lakeshore, a three game sweep of
the series. Ripley, who lost one
regular season game, and one
playoff game in reaching the finals
defeated Tiverton, Lucknow, and
Grand Valley.
Interest continues to grow in the
WOAA Senior Hockey program
with Clinton, Wellesley, Listowel,
Monkton and Paisley all
possibilities for next season.
Presently there are 19 teams in the
WOAA.
In other hockey news the
Brussels Crusaders, who enjoyed
an excellent return to Senior
Hockey finishing three points out
of first place and advancing to the
Senior A semi-finals announced
their 1994 award winners. They
are: regular season scoring leader,
Brad Carter; playoff scoring leader,
Brian Campbell; coaches' award,
Corey McKee; regular season
MVP, J C Hewitt; playoff MVP,
Tim Fritz.

90 register for Blyth soccer
The 1994 soccer season in Blyth
is about to get underway with a
very good response this year.
There are approximately 90
children involved this year which
will comprise of five teams,
Squirts, Atoms, Mosquito, Pee Wee
and Bantam.
The Squirts and Bantams will
have exhibition games. The other
three teams will be playing in the
North Huron Soccer League, with
each team playing 10 games.
The season will start on May 16
and run to the end of July with a
year end tournament on Aug. 6.
The towns involved this year are
Clinton, Goderich, Lucknow,
Wingham and Blyth.
This year the Blyth Little League
Soccer has a kick off on April 30
starting at 10 and ending at 12. All
age groups are encouraged to come
out and have some fun. Parents
and grandparents are also welcome.
There will be pop for the
youngsters and coffee for the rest.
Blyth Little League Soccer
received donations from Blyth
Lions, Blyth Legion, Blyth
Optimists and from the Village of
Blyth.
Those on the coaching staff are
Nancy Hakkers, John Battye, Terry
Marks, Hillie Chamney, BJ Cullen,
Herb Van Amersfoort and David
Onn.
Support your soccer league and
