The clowns present blocks, balloons and magic while, in the tradition of famous human clowns, using mime to communicate with their audience. Puppets clown around at Blyth Humourous, colourful, highly visual, sophisticated and charming are words that describe Lampoon Puppettheatre's delightful show, Clowning Around, coming to the Blyth Memorial Hall stage for one show only at 2 on Saturday after­ noon, April 16. Homecoming Committee seeks Queen contestants Wingham businesses, volunteers and non-profit organizations are puting together the Wingham Homecoming to be held at the end of June. The Homecoming Queen contest is open to anyone 16 and over who is attending or has attended F.E. Madill Secondary School and has a business sponsor. The competition will include an interview with the judges, a fun fashion show and the top five con­ testant will be required to answer an impromtu question. There will be good prizes for everyone. The deadline for entry is April 30 with the event taking place on June 30 at Wingham Memorial Arena . Any businesses wishing to spon­ sor a contestant should contact Dianne Perry at 335-3259. Clowning Around was the first show built by Lampoon Puppet­ theatre and is still a favourite. PAGE 19. ‘In the Ring9 premieres Friday, June 24 marks the world premiere of In The Ring, by Canadian Playwright Jean-Marc DalpS, translated by Robert Dickson. Directed by Richard Rose, the production will be designed by Doug Paraschuk, with music by Don Horsburgh. The cast includes Ben Bass as Vic, Wayne Best as Maurice, Roland Hewgill as Coco/Bertrand, Ken James as Eddy and Janet Wright as Mado. In The Ring will begin preview perform­ ances on Wednesday, June 22, and will run to Saturday, Aug. 13. In The Ring is a gritty tale that explores the dangerous conse­ quences of placing success and personal gain above honour, loyalty and friendship. This play, written by Governor General's Award­ winner Jean-Marc Dalpe, will debut at Stratford in its English translation. Richard Rose, who made his Stratford directing debut in 1992 with World of Wonders, will direct this premiere production. Janet Wright, in her fourth Stratford season, plays aunt Mado and Ken James returns for the first time since 1965 as the disillusioned Eddy.
