School hosts crokinole Mrs. Frank Procter, Mrs. Larry Bray, Mrs. Harvey Black and Mrs. Allan Bridge made a surprise visit to Mrs. Wayne Hopper's home on Wednesday, March 23, to help celebrate her 40th birthday. Mrs. Cam Procter was unable to attend. The First Belgrave Brownies and Guides spent the morning of March 23 doing Easter crafts such as washcloth bunnies, podge, chicks and baskets, bunny necklaces and doe bunnies. Everyone brought a bag lunch and a few games were played. Mrs. Marion Hussey, Marla and Melina, Mrs. Joyce Van Camp, Mrs. Bruce Campbell, Mrs. Marie McIntosh, all of Belgrave area, Mrs. Rodney Steinman and Miss Lynda Shaw of Brussels area, attended a Women's retreat at the Christian Horizon's centre in Paisley on March 25-27. Mrs. Marilyn Moncrief of Port Huron was the keynote speaker. Her theme for the weekend was freedom from past hurts and guilt. Mr. and Mrs. Ross Anderson spent last weekend March 26 with Mr. and Mrs. Doug Cousins and Brandon of Guelph. Mel Mathers had the misfortune of falling on ice and fracturing his hip. He was taken to University Hospital, London. He is now back to Wingham and District Hospital and hoping to get home soon. Wilfred Walker is also a patient in Wingham and District Hospital. We wish them both a speedy recovery. Don Vincent of Prosser Brook, New Brunswick, visited with his parents Harold and Edith Vincent on the weekend and with his brothers, Murray, Neil and Grant and their families at a family dinner on Sunday. He also visited his father-in-law, George Webster, who is a patient in Victoria Hospital, London. 14 tables at shoot Fourteen tables of shoot were in play at the Belgrave Community' Centre on Friday afternoon, March 25 at 1:30 p.m. ( Winners were: high lady, Ora Bruce; second high, Edythe Coultes; most shoots, Jane Grasby; birthday nearest to March 25, Agnes Bieman; high man, Dennis Leddy; second high, Nell Johnston (playing as a man); most shoots, Muriel Irvine (playing as a man); birthday nearest to March 25, Bill Tiffin. There will be another shoot in two weeks, April 8 starting with a pot luck dinner at 12:30 p.m. and will be followed by shoot at 1:30 p.m. Twelve tables of euchre were in play at the WI Hall, Belgrave, Wednesday evening. Winners were: high lady, Gordon Bosman (playing as lady); second high, Agnes Gaunt; lone hands, Helen Martin; high man, Doug Hemingway; second high, Bob Grasby; lone hands, Ross Turvey; lucky lady, Lillian Appleby; lucky man, Irene Smythe (playing as a man). High lady was Geraldine Dale and high man was Lome Hunking. There were 12 people present. The Sunday School held its crokinole and euchre party in the Sunday School room on Wednesday, March 23. There were six tables, of crokinole. Winners were: high man, Jason Hoggart; low man, Jason Forbes; high lady, Mary Jane Horbanuik; low lady, Elizabeth MacGregor; 20s men, Kevin Trewartha; 20s ladies, Amanda Avery; four youngest players, Molly Horban­ uik, Megan Wheeler, Steven Dougherty and Drew Anderson. There were five tables of euchre. Winners were: high man, Tim Airdrie; lone hands, Sam Dough­ erty; low man, Don MacGregor; Whytes greet at United Greeters at Londesboro United Church on Sunday, Marcn 27 were Nick and Joan Whyte. Ushers were Neil and Lisa Elliott and John and Jane Hoggart. The Sunday School children marched into the church waving palm crosses. The Sunday School children presented a Tableau on The Story of Jesus' Passion. Holy Communion was held. There will be no Bible Study until April 5.
