Here, the Rambonians outnumber the Pretenders two to one in brooms as well as players. Tykes outplay Stephen 3-0 The 1994 hockey season wrapped up for the Blyth Tykes as they participated in the final playoff tournament on Saturday, March 26 in Clinton. In their first game against Stephen Township Justin Peters notched up the opening goal unassisted. Tyler Kemighan shot in number two, after receiving a perfect transfer from Michelle Cook who had picked up and redirected Cody Anderson's pass. On the third goal, Brett Bean lipped the puck to Ryan McClinchey who sent a long pass to Peters who laced a beauty high into the far comer of the net. Stephen Twp. was shutout totally by Blyth's goalie, Taylor Hesselwood, so the score remained 3-0. In game two, Blyth faced a keen, quick Elma Logan team. Although Blyth made some key defensive plays, especially Michelle Cook and Cody Anderson who demonstrated speed and skill by coming back from the offensive zone to check a net-rushing opponent and by Ryan McClinchey and Tammy Root who kept the Help! puck in for teammates Sandy Hay and Christopher Bernard to avoid an off-side call, Elma Logan still chalked up three goals in the first. In period two, Blyth persevered. Tyler Kemighan took McClin- chey’s pass and charged the net, poking the puck under goalie Steven Crawford. After another Elma Logan goal, Blyth had a spark when Peters Blyth Beginners have fun The 1993-94 hockey season came to a close Tuesday, March 15 in Seaforth for the Blyth Beginner Hockey Team. Each team plays three, 30 minute games and no score is kept. The Blyth team took to the ice bright and early at 8 sharp against a turned on the jets and took the puck end-to-end for their second goal. Throughout the game, Luke Anderson played a solid centre position with god hustles, while goalie Taylor Hesselwood made many difficult saves. Elma Logan added one more final goal late in the period to defeat Blyth 5-2 to end the season. very inspired Strathroy squad. The early time didn't seem to bother either team as they provided great end-to-end action. Blyth hit the ice again at 9:25 against St. Marys. This game proved to be a tight-checking affair with some great passing displays and good goal scoring by the Blyth team. The third game was underway at 10:50 against Wellesley. Both teams played well displaying some fine skating and puck handling skills. In ListoweJ on March 14, the Atoms edged Kincardine by two points with a 4-2 finish. It was a shutout first period on both sides, but things picked up in the second when Tim Robinson notched two goals to take the lead for Belgrave. Kevin Hopf assisted on Robinson's second goal. In the third Kincardine narrowed the lead to one, then Tyler Fenton, off a play by Robinson widened the margin once more. Kincardine made it interesting again with a shot at 4:11, but Hopf gave the team some insurance at 2:31 off a Robinson set up. The second game was a little dif ferent with St. Mary’s trouncing them 6-2. Things looked well-matched dur ing the first period as the two teams traded goals, but a scoreless sec ond, then four St. Mary's markers in the third handed Belgrave a loss. Scoring for Belgrave was Robinson and Fenton with assists going to Justin Black, Justin Campbell and Tom Mullin. Aaron Bakker played both games in goal. On March 19 the team travelled to Belgrave for another tournament and captured the B for a great end to the season.
