LeeAnn and Kelly McDonald greet at Duff’s United
WaltoniTKe news from LeeAnn and Kelly McDonald
were greeters at Duffs United this
Palm Sunday. During the singing
of the hymn, "All Glory Laud and
Honour" the Sunday School kids| Compiled by Petty Uanire Phone 887-6860

came up from downstairs and
handed out Palm branches to
everyone.
The service continued with
Michelle Kuntz reading the Call to
Worship. John Uyl and Tadd Smith
read the Lenten Liturgy and Tadd
extinguished the last purple candle.
Jeff Linton announced the next
hymn. Trisha McClure led the
congregation in the prayer of
confession and Scott McDonald did
the Antiphonal Prayer of Pardon
with Craig Gillis reading the
Assurance of Pardon.
Rev. Banks then asked the
children what famous person they
would like to invite to Walton.
Every hockey player imagined plus
Whitney Houston, (I thought of
Tom Cruise) was called out. Rev.
Banks then asked them how they
would welcome them. Some
mentioned a parade or a special
song written for them and of course
they would have to have a hockey
game or two plus a special meal.
Rev. Banks continued by telling
how Jesus was welcomed into
town. Kelly McDonald read the
Hebrew scripture, Isaiah 50: 4-9.
Tama Smith lead the congregation
in the Psalm reading. The Epistle
was read by Shannon Gibbons.
The Sunday School then sang
"The Day he Came Riding into
Town," and the Story of the
Passion of Jesus was then acted
out. Tanner Banks was Narrator
One and Tina McClure was
Narrator Two. Rev. Banks was the
third Narrator.
Tadd Smith did a great job of
playing Jesus. Scott McDonald was
Judas, Geoffrey played Peter and
Mark Gillis was John. Mandy
Mitchell played the only female
role and she was the woman who
poured the oil on Jesus' head.
The other disciples were Craig
Gillis, Jeff Linton and Trevor
Gibbons. Robbie McClure and
Darrel McClure were the two
soldiers.
Each tableau had a sign carrier to
let people know where each event
was taking place. Tina Smith,

Talent auction upcoming
Quite a few people have guessed
who the mystery neighbour is and
first of all I will tell you who it isn't
- Graeme Craig.
The clues are...As a kid he
attended Duffs United, sang in the
choir and Doug Fraser was his
Sunday School teacher. He also
went to Fanshawe College in
London in 68-69. His grandfather
and father were custodians of the
church and also of the old Walton
school. This person spent a lot of
time there helping. He enjoys
sports and loves the winter if there
is lots of snow.
Neil and Marie McGavin enjoyed
a few days in New Orleans with
Ford New Holland dealers from
across Canada and the U.S.
On March 14-20 while Graeme
and Helen and Shannon Craig went
down to the States, son Michael got
to enjoy himself camping at
Shadow Lake center.
Deepest sympathies are extended
to Barb Durrell and family at the
loss of her father, Stanley
Preszcator of Forest this past week
and also to Marion Godkin and
family for the death of her cousin,
Morris Hemmingway, and to
Gerald Ryan and his family for the
death of his father, Lawrence on
Sunday, March 27.
Don't forget to turn your clock
ahead when you go to bed
Saturday.
The 'For Sale' sign on the Walton
Inn took quite a few people by
surprise. I talked to Karl
MacNaughton, the owner of the inn
and he said a body needs a change
every five years or so and needs to
get on with life and do new things.
Right now he is busy getting his
horse, Tigers Flash read for the
race track. He figures late April the
horse should be hitting the tracks.
The MacNaughtons also held a
family reunion March 25 with 60
people gathering to celebrate at the
inn.
The big event for the Walton
church and community is the

It should be a lot of fun and it is
the hope of the organizers that the
community will come out and help
support the auction.
I wish everyone a wonderful and
meaningful Easter.
A wedding shower for Monique
Van Ostaaijen (soon to be Mrs.
Don Baan) was held at the home of
Dianne Baan, March 25. Monique
was able to meet many of her soon-
to-be-neighbours.
She and Don will be married

close to 100 items and talents for

the items will be between 5 and 7

Area curlers

Two Walton area men will be
travelling to Chesley at the end of
March to compete in the All
