The meeting opened with O Canada, the Mary Stewart Collect and Opening Ode. The president gave a reading, "A Recipe for a Perfect Day." Roll call was answered by naming a home remedy used when young. A minute's silence was observed in memory of Nettie Clark, a life member who passed away on Friday, March 4 in her 93rd year. The guest speaker was unable to attend so Josephine MacGregor took her place. She spoke on the value of bread and on diets. The minutes of the November and December meetings were read and approved. Betty Hulley gave the treasurer's report. Elma Jewitt moved Honorariums be paid, which was seconded by Marjorie Anderson. Correspondence was read on WI workshops. One will be held at Londesboro Hall on Monday, March 28 at 7:30 p.m. World Health Day is April 7 at Huron Park. All members are to pay their own fee of $15 per member. The annual meeting will be on April 13 with a pot luck dinner at 12:30 p.m. Thank yous were received from the Christmas Bureau and Ella Flood. A motion was made to pay the bills. Lunch was served by Elma Jewitt, Lois Elliott and Leita Wiley. Shuffleboard Shuffleboard was held at Hullett School on Wednesday, March 9 with 11 people present. Ladies' high was Edythe Beacom and men's high was Lome Hunking. The regular WI euchre was held at Londesboro Hall on Friday evening, March 11. There were six tables of euchre. Winners were: ladies' high, Nora Kelly; ladies' lone hands, Margaret Taylor; ladies’ low, Winnie Knox; men's high, Eric Anderson; men's lone hands, Lloyd Appleby; men's low, Ted Fothergill. A crokinole and euchre party will be held at Hullett School on Wednesday, March 16 from 7:30 - 9:30 p.m. C. Riley and J. Fox greet at Londesboro United Greeters at Londesboro United Church on Sunday, March 13 were Clara Riley and Jean Fox. Ushers were Rick and Brenda Konarski and Mark and Laurel Mitchell. The sermon topic was "Who Loves You?" Huronview Fellowship is Thurs­ day, March 17 from 7 - 7:45 p.m. Senior Youth Group is to gather at Huronview at 6:50 p.m. All reports for the spring newsletter are to be given to Yvonne Hoggart by next Sunday. Paul Ross conducted the service at Knox United Church and Bernice Gross was the organist. Rev. Ross gave the Words of Welcome and the Invitation to Worship was read alternately. The Prayers of Approach and Confes­ sion were followed by the hymn "Jesus Loves Even Me". Rev. Ross gave the Countdown to Easter - The Lenten Triad. The children’s story and the children's chorus was sung. Rev. Ross read the scripture. Laura May Chamney and Nancy Park sang a duet "Sweet Hour of Prayer" accompanied by Bernice Gross on the piano. Hymn "Love Divine All Loves Excelling" was sung. Rev. Ross's sermon was entitled "Who Loves You?" The induction of new elders took place. They are Ell Lapp, Tena Empey and Laura May Chamney. New Stewards installed are Rick Archambault, Ken Empey and Shirley Archambault. Installation of UCW executive followed. They are Lillian Hallam and Joyce Bean. The offering was received by Marinus Bakker and Bill Seers and for the Sunday School by Martin Sturzenegger and Rob Archambault Euchre There were seven tables in play at the Auburn euchre party held at the community hall Tuesday evening, March 8. Winners were: high lady, Ruby Pattison; low lady, Feme Howatt; high man, Tom Hallam; low man, Lloyd Appleby; novelty prize, Marie Bromley. Euchre is played every Tuesday evening at 8 p.m. B elgrave |CompiledbyHelenStonefwu»e Phone887-9487] Logans visit from Wyoming Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Logan and Trevor of Wyoming attended a birthday party for their nephew, Robbie McGee at the home of Robbie's grandparents Mr. and Mrs. George McGee. They also called on Ralph's mother Mrs. Dorothy Logan. Jackie and Laura Strauss of Waterloo are spending a few days with their grandparents Mr. and Mrs. George McGee. On March 9 a bus trip to St. Thomas was enjoyed by the members of the Belgrave Community Club. President Martha Daer gave the Call to Worship. She welcomed all to the meeting. Guests were the Rev. Ian McWhinnie, Mrs. McWhinnie and their twin daughters. The devotional part was taken by Martha. Psalm 91 was read alternately and the meditation was on "The dwelling place of the most high". A solo was given by Mrs. McWhinnie accompanied by her husband on the guitar, which was much enjoyed. Business was conducted as usual. Rev. McWhinnie read an interesting story about "The Ragman". Carol Daer then made a presentation to Mr. McWhinnie and we all wished the family all the best in their new parish. The meeting closed with prayer.
