Belgrave residents enjoy family fun night It was a stormy Wednesday last week, but two of "Mabel's Moms" and their children met at the home of Mabel Wheeler. Present were Shannon Weitendorf, Lisa and Erin and Janet Koehler, Tamara and Derek, with Trever Raynard. Mabel served coffee, juice aid delicious home made cookies and the three ladies had a nice time. Twelve Belgrave and area families gathered at the Belgrave arena on Friday, Feb. 18 for two hours of family fun. A pot luck meal was enjoyed, after the men played a game of shinny. Guests included, Glenn Raynard, Scott and Andrea Stevenson, and Donna Leanne Swanson, Gerald and Pat Ralhwell, Joel and Julie Van Camp, Tony and Candace Chaffe, Brian and Alison Wightman, John and Sandra Dorsch, Cam and Alice Yuill, Scott and Linda Galbraith, Travis and Janet Koehler, Donna Kellington, Bridget and Brandon, Amy Cook, and Tania Pletch. Congratulations to Gerald and Pat Rathwell of Belgrave who won $2,000 in last week's 649 draw. Warren and Linda Knight, Paul and Karen Moffatt, Ted and Lois Moran, Barb Black, Kevin and Barb Pletch and Mike and Lori ' Malhiot all of Belgrave, spent the weekend of Feb. 18 at Blue Mountain Ski Resort in Collingwood. Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Taylor of Sarnia spent a couple of days last week with Mr. and Mrs. Jack Taylor. Mrs. Sharon Mitchell and friend of Hanover visited on Saturday with her mother Mrs. Hilda Vincent. PRINTING IS OUR BUSINESS Over the fields Competitors had a lot of fun with a new twist on the two-person bobsled event during the Winter Carnival at East Wawanosh Public School last Friday afternoon. Students were divided into teams and played a variety of unique games to put some fun in winter. Though the wind was chilly, the sun was high, which added to fresh air, exercise and time away from school work was a perfect combination. Businesswoman speaks to WI The Belgrave Women's Institute meeting was held at the Hall on Tuesday, beginning with a pot luck meal for members and friends. Rev. Paul Boughton led in grace. The program convenor, Gladys Van Camp introduced the guest speaker, Chris Dickson who operates her business "Goodies by Two Shoes" from her home in the Belmore area. She had on display some of the jams, relishes and dry baking mixes which she has for sale. Chris explained some of the procedures for starting your own business and the type of person who can successfully manage such an operation. During the business meeting, President Audrey Fenton reminded everyone to send in their survey report. Information was read about the mystery night to be held in Londesboro on March 28, and the annual Convention to be held at Orillia in August. Dorothy Coultes had information on the plays to be presented at Drayton this summer. The possibility of installing a fan in the kitchen was discussed and repairs to the window blinds. The program for January which had to be cancelled due to the weather will be included in a later meeting.
