Makeovers can pamper the bride-to-be should keep in mind that the sales person, never took courses and has no idea what specific problems that person may have," she says. As well, she adds that quality products tend to last longer as less is required. Making her customers happy is a big part of Boussey's business. ."The business is the person who owns it. Customers will come to you if you are good at what you do and if your are honest with them. I like to see the difference I can make in people and know that they are happy. " TOKEN TREASURES Natural beauty Using daughter Nadda as a model, Boussey demonstrates how a bride's makeup should be natural. It should enhance the bride's beauty but not overpower it, she says. By Bonnie Gropp While attention is undoubtedly paid to the bridal couple, there is little question that much of it focus es on the bride. From the time she walks down the aisle, a vision in satin and lace beneath a gossamer veil, all eyes, in particular those of her groom, are turned toward her. The wedding day is one to remember forever thus each bride likes to be picture perfect for the big day. Esthetician Boussey Farag of Boussey's Beauty Boutique in Seaforth offers a $20 wedding makeover package, which includes makeup and manicure, that will not only enhance the radiant bride, but give her a little time for some much deserved relaxation. If a bridal party of 10 people comes in for the makeover the bride's is free. Waxing is also available, although at an extra cost. It is common knowledge that to ensure the bride is pleased with her hairstyle on the big day she should visit the stylist prior to the event for a consultation. Boussey advises the same thing for the makeup. "For someone who doesn't know my work," she says, "I like them to come in before so they know what I do. It’s nice to have a trial run." One of the first things Boussey does when a client comes to her is discuss colour preferences and look at her nails. She personally prefers brides have a natural look so "peo ple see the beauty of the bride, not how nice her makeup is." Boussey says, that while you can overdo the eye makeup for a night on the town, a bride's makeup looks better if it's a little more subtle. If a bride expresses a preferance for a heavier look, Boussey says she will often do makeup on one side of the face with a fresh, natural look while the other side is done the way the bride requests so that she may see the difference. "Uusally, that changes their mind," she says. When the big day arrives Boussey will first cleanse the bride's skin, then use concealers to hide blemishes or markings of any kind, then moisturizes. The prod ucts she uses are available for all skin types. Following the application of makeup, which takes 15 to 20 min utes, Boussey's daughter Nadda begins the manicure. For an addi tional $20 to $25 the bride can have a treatment to harden the nails or for $60 can have plastic nails put on. Provided they are looked after properly and are not put in warm water for at least a day these will last up to a month, Nadda says. In Boussey's work, she says, she has come up with a few helpful hints that she doesn't mind sharing with the client. She also details to them her method of application and imparts any tricks or knowledge she can. Trained in Montreal and Toronto, Boussey says she likes to stay fresh on the current beauty trends and attends workshops annu al to update herself. The most recent was under the instruction of a Parissienne esthetician , from whom she feels she garnered some useful information. While the most important aspects of makeup are blush, liner and lipstick, Boussey says that playing up the eyes is presently very much in vogue. If a client finds they are particu larly pleased with one of the prod ucts Boussey uses on them they can purchase it from her as she offers a diverse variety of cosmetics, toi letries and scents for retail. Though her products may appear to be more costly than others Boussey reverts to the old adage "You only get what you pay for." "When people try to buy a cheap er over the counter product they Mom’s turn Boussey takes a few minutes to enjoy some luxury herself as daughter Nadda does her nails.
