The general meeting of the
Belgrave UCW was held on Feb.
10 in the schoolroom of the church.
The members and their husbands
enjoyed a pot luck supper at 6:30
p.m. Following the supper Mary
Hunter called upon the Rev. John
Roberts, who sang two solos,
"Rock of Ages" and "Guide Me O
Thou Great Jehovah". He was
accompanied on the piano by Mrs.
John Roberts.
The worship service was
presented by Wilma Higgins and
Barbara Anderson. The hymn "For
the Beauty of the Earth" was sung
and Wilma spoke about the beauty
of the seasons. Barbara read the
scripture Philippines 4: 4-9 and
used the apostle Paul’s words, "Fill
you minds with things that are true,
noble, right, pure, lovely and
honorable" to portray a good way
to begin the new year.
Wilma Higgins led in prayer, the
hymn, He Leadeth Me" was sung
and the offering was received.
Dorothy Coultes introduced the
guest speaker, Ruth Alton from
Lucknow, who showed slides and
described her trip last fall to Japan
to visit her daughter Susanne.
Susanne is teaching English in a
private school in Hiratsika. Mrs.
Mabel’s Moms meet
Mr. and Mrs. Harold Vincent
visited with Miss Lillian Powell of
Seaforth on Friday, Feb. 11. She
will be celebrating her 92nd
birthday this week.
Mr. and Mrs. Robert Wallace of
Egmondville visited on Thursday
with his sister and brother-in-law,
Mr. and Mrs. Harold Vincent.
Mrs. Rick Ball, Matthew and
Alicia of Hanover visited on the
weekend with her parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Ross Anderson.
Mrs. Laura Johnston accom
panied Mr. and Mrs. Robert Grasby
on the weekend to visit with their
family Mr. and Mrs. George
Johnston, Tara and Erin of Ilderton.
"Mabel's Moms" met at the home
of Mabel Wheeler on Wednesday,
Feb. 9. Those attending were Ann
Spivey, Waneta Leishman and
Melissa; Julie Van Camp, Jeanine,
and Jordan; Lila Procter and Ben;
Andrea Stevenson, Mathew and
Tyler; Sherry Taylor and Brandon;
Janet Koehler, Derek and Trever
Raynard.
The group discussed nutrition.
Mabel served coffee and cookies
and the moms and tots all had a
nice time.
The community extends wishes
for a speedy recovery to Wilma
Achievement
Two members of the Belgrave 4-H "Home for the Holidays"
club received recognition for 12 completed projects at an
achievement night, following a skating party last week.
Leader Isabel Campbell presents the awards to Karrin
Marks, centre, and Margie Gordon, who was also a youth
leader. Absent was Michelle Freiburger.

alton gave a most interesting
account of the sight-seeing
excursions which she and her
sister-in-law, Mrs. Ross Procter,
who accompanied her on the trip,
experienced. Dorothy Coultes
thanked Mrs. Alton and presented
her with a gift of appreciation.
During the business period the
minutes were adopted and the
treasurer's report was given. The
correspondence consisted of many
notes of appreciation from the "shut
ins" who received Christmas boxes
from the UCW as well as notices
about London Conference UCW
being held at St. John's United
Church, Stratford, April 11-12.
Westminster weekend is May 27,
28, 29 and the summer event is at
Siloam United Church, London
July 23.
The Belgrave UCW will cater to
a Blyth Theatre supper on Aug. 20.
A motion was made to donate
$100 to Concerns Canada.
The meeting closed with Mary
Hunter pronouncing the
benediction.
Scott following her recent surgery
at Victoria hospital in London.
Scott and Adrea Stevenson of.
Belgrave spent last weekend skiing
at Blue Mountain.
Euchre
Thirteen tables were in play at
the Belgrave weekly euchre on
Wednesday night in the WI Hall.
Winners were: high lady, Shirley
Hackett; second high, Laura
Johnston; lone hands, Leona Black;
low lady, Irlma Edgar; high man,
Stanley Black; second high, Tom
Pfeiffer; lone hands, Garner
Nicholson; low man, John King.
There will be euchre again next
Wednesday in the hall at 8 p.m.
Ten tables were in play at the
shoot party last Friday afternoon in
the Belgrave Community Centre.
Winners were: high lady, Louise
Bosman; second high, Helen
Martin; most shoots, Donna Craig;
low lady, Muriel Irvine; high man,
Nell Johnston (playing as a man);
second high, Lloyd Appleby; most
shoots, Albert Cook; low man, Kay
Rich (playing as a man).
There will be a shoot party in two
weeks Feb. 25 at 1:30 p.m.

Parish holds annual meeting
The congregation of Trinity
Anglican Church held its annual
meeting following the service on
Sunday.
The minutes of the previous
meeting were read by Mary Isabel
Nethery and the financial statement
was given by Nancy Jardin. At the
election of officers, Rev. Vicars
Hodge asked Clare Van Camp to be
rector's warden and Jean Nethery
was elected as people's warden.
The lay delegate to Synod is
Gladys Van Camp. The board of
management consists of all officers
with the addition of Gwen
MacLean, Margaret Higgins, Glen
