Girls team wins championship
On Saturday, Jan. 22 the Blyth
girl's volleyball team travelled to
St. Joseph's Separate School in
Clinton for their annual invitational
tournament. Due to a schedule
change Blyth played its heaviest
competitor first and lost an
extremely close match to Clinton
Public School with a score of 15-
13.
Blyth won all of its matches
throughout the day while Clinton
maintained a winning record in all
of its matches. It appeared as
though Blyth might attain the
second place position in the
tournament.
Blyth's final game was against
those steady players such as
Christina Black, April Van
Amersfoort, Jennifer Godfrey and
Ashley Howson, and for excellent
serving by Leanne Bell, Niki
Denomme and our lead-off server
Joanne Josling.
Tammy Walker, Cappy Onn and
Skye Lantinga provided excellent
backup and consistency.

competitive match up. The final

with Clinton Public. It was up to
the point differential to settle the
championship. The close first game
played with Clinton made the
difference. Blyth had a total of 73
points over Clinton's 70 points; and
was declared the championship
team.
Clinton Public came in second
and Holmesville Public School,
third.
All the girls played exceptionally
focused games and worked very
well together. Special kudos to
Guest pastor at CRC service
The services at the Blyth
Christian Reformed on Jan. 23,
were led by guest pastor, Vic
VanderMolen from Kitchener.
Andy and Darlene VanderVeen
greeted guests and members and
Ron Wilts and Kendra Shortreed
ushered.
The service was opened with the
singing of two hymns. The call to
worship was taken from Psalm 100.
The congregation was favoured by
the singing of the Calvinettes.
They sang two selections
accompanied by April
VanAmersfoort on the piano and
Melinda Exel on the flute.
Rev. VanderMolen's message
was taken from Gen. 5:21-24, and
Hebrews 11:5,6. The title of the
sermon was, "Walking with God".
The pastor began his message by
stating that desire for approval is a
very strong motive in people.
Children desire approval from
parents, friends, teachers, while
adults desire approval from
spouses, employers, etc. The
scripture talked about Enoch, who
walked with God and received
God's approval.
Rev. VanderMolen went on to
explain four reasons for God's
approval toward Enoch and how
