Daers mark 55 years of marriage Better than gold This Tuesday was a very special day for Dorothy and Bert Daer of Blyth. They celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary. Dorothy Vodden, the daughter of the late Charlie and Janet Vodden of Hullett Twp. married Bert Daer, son of the late Sam and Mary Daer of Hullett Twp. on Jan. 10, 1939. They were married at the Auburn Manse by Rev. Hugh Wilson. The maid of honour was the groom’s sister, Elizabeth Kirkcon- nell and the best man was Jack Turberville. After a honeymoon in London, Ontario, the couple returned to the groom's farm at RR 1 Auburn. The Daers have six children; Iso- bel of Wingham, Ron of Auburn, Edward of Wingham, Ken of Clin­ ton, Lome of New Hamburg and Laura of Dresdan. They celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary on Jan. 10.People Mark and Lorie Fischer of Unity, Sask., were visitors over the holidays at the home of their parents Bill and Diana Campbell. Mark's parents and brother and sister of Ottawa also came to visit with them while they were in Blyth. Winners of the euchre Jan. 3 at Blyth Hall were: high lady, Bernice McClinchey; high man, Lome Dale; ladies' low, Janet Lawrie; men's low, Stephanie Lentz (playing as a man); ladies' lone hand, Clara Rinn and men's lone hand, Millar Richmond. Neither Mr. Broy, nor the driver of the second vehicle, Donna Aldrich, were hurt. REPORT SIGHTINGS! 1-800-563-7711 Drivers escape injury after collision near Blyth CLINTON PUBLIC HOSPITAL ONTARIO FEDERATION OF ANGLERS & Slippery road conditions con­ tributed to a two vehicle accident in Morris Twp., late Saturday morn­ ing. According to a spokesperson from the Wingham OPP Donna Aldrich, 31, of RR3, Blyth was slowing to turn left from Hwy 4 onto East Wawanosh Cone. 2/3 just north of Blyth. William Broy, 28, of Leamington was driving a Ford van north behind Ms Aldrich. When he tried to slow, the van slid beside Ms Aldrich, striking her 1983 Ford pickup as it turned, police say. The van then slid into the north west ditch, while Ms Aldrich's truck went onto Morris Cone. 8/9.
