The cutoff date for submitting farm
business registration forms to the
Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food
and Rural Affairs is August 31, 1998.
When you register you will qualify for
the new farmland property tax rate of
25 per cent for the 1999 taxation
year.
If you have not obtained a valid
farm business registration number by
August 31, 1998, your farmland will
be taxed at the full residential
property value (100 per cent of the
residential mill rate).
There will be NO APPEAL
PROCESS.
The new tax rate was put into
place earlier this year.
