across Canada were
awarded the 2018
Master Breeder Shields.
Eight were from
Ontario.
Of the 21 breeders,
14 were first time
recipients.
Over 1,000 Master
Breeder shields have
been handed out in the
program’s 89-year
existence. The intent is
to reward breeders for
mastering the art of
breeding balanced
cattle – high production
and outstanding
conformation with great
reproduction, health and
longevity.
Awards will be
presented at the 2019
National Holstein
Convention Master
Breeder Gala to be held
in Prince Edward Island
in April. ◊
Clean, bright facilities house the Holsteins of Marfloacres, owned by Wayne and Karen
Martin of Mount Forest. Breeding “the next good cow” is a source of personal joy for Wayne
who was one of 21 farmers across Canada to earn a Master Breeder Shield.
