McQuail to seek NDP nom. in coming election
Tony McQuail, ecological farmer
and environmentalist, plans to seek
the NDP nomination in the coming
federal election. McQuail first ran
for the NDP in 1980 and served
three terms as an elected trustee on
the Huron County School Board. He
also worked at Queen’s Park as the
executive assistant to the Hon. Elmer
Buchanan, Minister of Agriculture,
Food and Rural Affairs.
Speaking with a group of
supporters after the parade, McQuail
stated his priorities will be electoral
reform, a regenerative economy and
tax fairness.
Regarding electoral reform,
McQuail said, “If we are going to
make steady progress on the issues
important to the majority of
Canadians we need a parliament
where they are represented
accurately. It may be acceptable to
Justin Trudeau and the Liberals to
steal Fairvote Canada’s slogan in
2015, promise to “Make Every Vote
Count” and then do nothing. It is not
acceptable to me to leave nine
million Canadian voters casting
votes that earn no representation. It
gives us ‘Phony Majority
Governments’ where a party that has
less than 40 per cent popular support
ends up with more than half the seats
and 100 per cent control of
parliament for four years. Women
and working Canadians got the vote
100 years ago; it is about time their
vote counted for representation
every election.”
McQuail ran the first time because
“The NDP was calling for energy
conservation and renewable energy
to deal with inflation caused by the
Arab Oil embargo which had
quadrupled the price of oil.
Successive Liberal and Conservative
governments used high interest rates
which made inflation worse, and

The dining room, separated from the great room by its lower ceiling height, has an optional hutch, always
welcome for serving and storage. The dining room has access to the sundeck at the back of the home,
making outdoor meals a breeze in the warmer months.
The cook will appreciate the step-saving L-shaped counter configuration in the kitchen, as well as the
spacious eating bar that divides the kitchen and dining room. Natural light will come through the double
windows over the sink, and a corner pantry will provide lots of space for storage.
The master suite looks out to the back garden through a window with an extra-deep sill. There is a three-piece
en-suite and walk-in closet.
The secondary bedrooms look out to the front garden and share a three-piece bathroom. Cupboards for
cleaning tools and linen are located nearby.
Downstairs, the unfinished one-bedroom suite has roughed-in plumbing for a three-piece bathroom. A kitchen
area occupies on corner of the main room, which has access to a covered patio.
The laundry room is also on the lower level, near the double garage, which has access to the foyer.
Exterior finishes include vertical siding and painted trim. The overhang above the garage is made of metal
roofing, and brick-based pilasters flank the entry and the garage door.
This home measures 38 feet wide and 38 feet deep, for a total of 1,200 square feet on the main floor, not
including the basement. Ceilings are nine feet high throughout.
