O’Reilly, Stanley Cup receive hero’s welcome
A day to remember
Huron County native Ryan O’Reilly has had quite a memorable few months. As a member of
the St. Louis Blues, he won the Stanley Cup, also snatching up the Conn Smythe Trophy along
the way as the most valuable player in the NHL playoffs. On Thursday, July 25, O’Reilly
brought the cup home to Huron County, hosting parades in Seaforth and Goderich, while also
stopping into a daycare in Clinton before hosting a private party for family and friends at his
home. Clockwise from top left: O’Reilly first unveils the Stanley Cup at the Huron East Fire
Department’s Seaforth station, where the Seaforth parade began; O’Reilly shows the cup to
his 99-year-old grandmother Deirdre for the first time; O’Reilly, his wife Dayne, their son
Jameson and Deirdre make their way through the streets of Seaforth; Huron County NHL
alumni Dave McLlwain and Boyd Devereaux wave to onlookers in the parade and O’Reilly’s
father Brian salutes supporters while ferrying the Conn Smythe Trophy through Seaforth.
