Mapped out routes for daytrips let you get to know rural Ontario with interesting stories about spots along the way. $2995 School year-end marked with awards, reminiscing Jacob Josling, one of the 29 graduates from Hullett Central Public School this June wrote the following report of their class year- end trip on June 21-24. The Grade 8 class of 2019 went on a trip to Camp Celtic for four days. In the time of being there, the days were full of activities. Every day in the morning we would sing songs before breakfast. Then we would sign up for interesting sessions, which consisted of everything from kayaking, archery, a craft called God’s eyes, polar dip, radio broadcasting and sports of all kinds. Every night after supper everyone would come together to play a camp-wide game like Survive the Mob or Flags. Each camper got a cabin group and a counsellor that stayed in the same cabin. The counsellors all had wacky names like Raptor, Mercury and Fung. They took care of us by creating cabin cheers, making sure we got to the nurse’s office if we were sick and ensuring we didn’t get lost on the campgrounds. We were lucky to get a coach bus both directions and the long drive to Lion’s Head was worth it! Parents may not have recognized their son or daughter as they left for the graduation ceremonies on Tuesday evening. All of them would have undergone quite a transformation between disembarking the bus from Camp Celtic and preparing for their step from elementary school to high school just the next day. Matt Robinson, acting principal for 2018- 2019, commented on what a great evening the graduation was. The ceremonies were held at the community centre in Blyth and the meal was catered by the Blyth Legion ladies. Decorations, etc. were provided by NJS Designs and Greyhaven Gardens. Twenty individual awards, donated by area sponsors, were presented to deserving students. Four young people were acknowledged as honour roll students and 11 students received a Learning Skills award. Twenty Letter H awards were given to students acknowledging and showing appreciation for their involvement in the many school activities during the course of their final year at Hullett Central. Ian Driscoll gave an interesting Valedictorian address, Congratulations to all the students and good luck in the future.
