Ambassador event set March 30 Nancy Jardin greeted worshippers and handed out the bulletins at Knox United Church on Sunday, March 17. Catherine MacDonald played inspiring prelude music and accompanied all the hymns. Minister Brian Hymers welcomed the congregation on the second Sunday of Lent and lit the Christ candle. After the opening hymn, “Lead On, O Cloudy Presence”, Brian went over the announcements as printed. Please join us on March 31 at Belgrave United Church. Dungannon and Trinity congregation have been invited to share in the service at 11:15 a.m. A hot lunch with dessert will be served after church. Lunch is by donation and the money raised will go towards the education costs of young girls in Malawi supported by “Change Her World”. The official board of Knox United Church is having a meeting on March 27 at 7:30 p.m. in the lower hall of the church. The Swiss Chalet supper and auction is being held on March 26 from 5 - 7 p.m. in the Dungannon Agricultural Hall. Please call Suzanne Andrew at 519-529-7335 for more information. Knox United Church invites one and all to come and enjoy their ham and scalloped potato supper with all the fixing and delicious desserts. The Elementary School Fair Ambassador Competition is on Saturday, March 30 at 7 p.m. at the Belgrave Community Centre. The storm date is Sunday, March 31 at 7 p.m. All are welcome to attend to cheer our students on and enjoy some entertainment. Please encourage eligible students to compete. Please keep those four-litre and three-litre milk bags coming in and also beverage can tabs for donations. Birthday greetings were extended to Doug Walker whose birthday was March 16 and happy birthday was sung to him. The call to worship was taken from Psalm 27, verse 4. Brian reflected on the mass shooting at the Christchurch in New Zealand where 50 Muslims were killed and 60 wounded. They are no different than us. We all worship the same God and have the same religion and beliefs. Nancy Jardin reported on the Minute for Missions which was entitled “Artistic Hope and Healing.” Larry Harper and Don Shiell took up the offering which was dedicated. The congregation sang the second verse of “The Church is Wherever God’s People” for the offertory response. The Lord’s Prayer, the parting hymn, “My Faith Looks Up to Thee”, the benediction and blessing, “God Dismiss Us With Your Blessing”, and the Giving of the Light of Christ concluded the worship service.
