Township of North Huron 2019 Budget Meeting Obituaries Sporting Chance Club takes to the hills at meeting By Kayla Drennan The fourth meeting of the “Wawanosh Sporting Chance Life Skills Club” was held on Saturday, March 2 at the Huron Chapel. The 4- H members and the leaders all met on the hill with their sleds or toboggans. President Austin Bieman opened the meeting with the 4-H pledge and then everyone got ready to take turns going down the hill. After an hour of fun on the hill, the 4-H members and leaders went into the Huron Chapel hall for hot chocolate and to conduct the business part of the 4-H meeting. Once everyone was in the hall, Austin led the roll call, which was “Name three items you think would be in a First Aid kit and why did you choose the three items?” Following roll call, the minutes of the last meeting were read. Austin asked the 4-H members for a motion to accept the minutes as read. Hayden Jamieson made the motion and Abby Robinson seconded the motion. Next, the business out of the minutes was discussed. Mary Ellen asked for suggestion for a club name and cover design. Suggestions for a club name were given and voted on. The name “Wawanosh Winter Warriors” was chosen, with Kailey Hallahan volunteering to design the cover page. Next, activities for Achievement Day were discussed. Some of the suggestions were road hockey, bowling and creative games outside or in the gym. The leaders will give an update on achievement at the next meeting. The leaders also reviewed the dates and location of the next meetings. Meeting five was scheduled for March 11 at the Wingham Curling Club at 6:45 p.m. and meeting six is at Willits Pool in Lucknow on March 21 at 7 p.m. President Austin Bieman closed the meeting with the motto, “Learn To Do By Doing.” Continued from page 9 positive presence on the Sunday morning team, a dedicated member who always had a smile on his face. When Huether died, the members of the team immediately thought he should be honoured and that hosting a memorial hockey tournament in his name would be the perfect way to honour his memory. The tournament proved to be popular right off the bat, with 26 teams applying to play, but organizers had capped the tournament at 16 teams. Van Bakel says that Huether would be proud to be associated with the tournament and, if he was alive, he would be the first one there to help out. The tournament runs from the evening of March 29 to the afternoon of March 31 at the Seaforth and District Community Centre. For more information, find the tournament on Facebook, or call Van Bakel at 226-678-4114. Huether remembered as positive presence Sporting chance The Wawanosh 4-H Sporting Chance Life Skills Club held its fourth meeting recently, which included some sledding and tobogganing, as demonstrated by Club President Austin Bieman.
