Heat continue to progress through playoffs
Playoffs continue throughout the
area with some teams facing their
last matches while others fight to
stay alive in the postseason.
BBMHA CRUSADERS
The Novice Rep Crusaders had a
tough week, posting back-to-back
losses against the Arthur Vipers, 6-4
on March 5 in Arthur and 9-6 on
March 6 in Brussels. The team has
no further games scheduled.
The Atom Local League Black
squad was downed by the Zurich
Thunder 5-2 on March 8 in Zurich
and have no further playoff games
scheduled.
The Atom Local League
Burgundy squad posted a 4-3 loss to
the Mitchell Meteors in Elma Logan
on Mar. 9 and have no further
playoff games scheduled.
The Atom Rep Crusaders posted a
4-2 win over the Central Perth
Predators on March 4, extending the
squad’s postseason winning streak to
five games.
The PeeWee Local League
Crusaders suffered two losses last
week, falling to the Goderich Sailors
2 on March 3 by a score of 5-4 in
Goderich and losing 8-1 to the Minto
Mad Dogs in Blyth on March 6.
Splitting up the losses was a 5-1 win
against the Mitchell Meteors on
March 5. No further playoff games
are scheduled for the team.
The PeeWee Rep Crusaders
posted a 4-1 loss against the Huron
Bruce Blizzard in the team’s last
scheduled playoff game on March 6.
The Bantam LL Crusaders put a
point in each column, beating the
Wingham Ironmen on March 7 in
Wingham, tying the Central Perth
Predators 3-3 in Brussels on March 6
and losing to the Predators in
Milverton on March 4. The squad
has no further playoff games
scheduled as of press time.
The team also competed in the
Young Canada Week Tournament in
Goderich over the weekend, posting
a 5-4 win over North Middlesex,
losing 3-1 against the hometown
Goderich Kinsmen, and earning a
convincing 12-0 win over Wingham.
The Bantam Rep Crusaders posted
two 2-2 ties in Blyth, one against the
Minto Mad Dogs on March 3 and
one against the Saugeen Shores
Storm on March 4. The team has no
further games scheduled.
The Midget Local League
Crusaders won the team’s last posted
playoff game, against the Listowel
Cyclones 2-1, on March 6.
The Midget AE Crusaders were
felled by the Walkerton Capitals 7-0
on in Brussels on March 8. The team
faced off against the Mitchell
Meteors on March 10, but a score
was unavailable at press time.
The Midget Rep Crusaders next
play against the BCH Ice Dogs in
Clinton on March 17. The puck
drops at 11:30 a.m.

HURON HEAT
Several Huron Heat teams are
entering the next round of the Lower
Lakes Female Hockey League
(LLFHL) playoffs while others
continue Ontario Women’s Hockey
Association (OWHA) playdowns
and others still compete in the
Western Ontario Girls Hockey
League (WOGHL) playoff round-
robin competitions.
The Novice B Heat are entering
the third round of the LLFHL
playoffs with a best-of-three series
against the Waterloo Ravens. Games
are scheduled on March 16 in
Waterloo at 3 p.m., March 17 at the
Blyth and District Community
Centre at 3 p.m. and March 24 at the
Seaforth and District Community
Centre at 1:30 p.m.
The Atom A Heat are entering
round two of the LLFHL playoffs
with a best-of-three series against
the Woodstock Wildcats. Matches
are set March 19 at 7 p.m. in
Woodstock, and March 23 and 24 in
Seaforth, both at 2:30 p.m.
The Atom C Heat continued in the
WOGHL playoff round-robin with a
2-0 road loss against the West
Oxford Inferno C on March 6. The
squad next faces off against the
Mitchell Meteors, again on the road,
on March 16.
The Atom HL squad faces off
against Ilderton in the WOGHL
playoff round-robin on March 16 in
Ilderton after being bested by the
Lucan Irish 4-1 on March 9.
The PeeWee BB Heat squad now
looks to the third round of the
LLFHL playoffs with a best-of-three
series against the Chatham Outlaws.
Game one is scheduled March 22 in
Hensall, game two is set for March
23 in Chatham and game three is set
for March 24 in the Seaforth and
District Community Centre.
The PeeWee C squad continues its
WOGHL playoff run, having bested
the North Middlesex Jr. Stars 4-1 on
March 9 and the South Huron Sabres
2-0 on March 5. Both teams will
get rematches in the coming
weeks as the Sabres welcome
the Heat to Stephen Township
on March 16 and North Middlesex
hosts the Heat on March 17.
The Bantam BB Heat had tied
their LLFHL round two playoff
series against the Stratford Aces at
one game each last month. The final
game was played last week on
March 3 in Clinton, but a score was
unavailable at press time.
The Bantam C Heat will finish
the WOGHL playoff round-robin
with a game against the Kent County
Fillies C in Ridgetown on March 17.
The team will then start the
WOGHL finals with another game
against the Fillies in Seaforth on
March 23. Puck-drop is scheduled
for noon.
The Midget BB Heat are entering
the third round of the LLFHL
playoffs with a series against the
Lakeshore Lightning. The Heat will
welcome the Lightning on March 17
to the Central Huron Community
Complex with the game starting at 1
p.m. The team will then take to the
road to face off against the Lightning
on March 23, with game three
scheduled for March 24 in
Clinton.
The Midget C squad continued its
OWHA playdowns last week with
games against the Lucknow/
Wingham 86ers on March 4 and the
South Huron Sabres on March 5, as
well as with a game on March 10
against the Central Perth Predators
but scores were unavailable at press
time.
The team continued its WOGHL
playoff round-robin, losing to St.
Thomas on the road on March 8 2-1
and posting a 2-2 tie against the
B.A.D. Blazers C in Hensall on
March 9.
The Senior Heat team had a roller
coaster of a week, posting a 7-1 win
over Parkhill in Hensall on March 2,
then suffering a 4-2 loss against
Exeter on March 3.
The squad also faced off against
Dorchester on March 10 in the first
of a three-game series, but a score
was unavailable at press time. The
series continues with games on
March 16 in Hensall and March 24
in Dorchester.
