GREETINGS
As we celebrate
Colbome Township Council held
their regular bi-monthly meeting on
Dec. 8.
Council reviewed the
recommendation of the Huron
County Planning and Development
Department to increase the foe for a
rezoning application to $1,000 and
for a minor variance application to
$510. These fees are divided into
three components (County,
Administrative, and Municipal).
Huron County council has adopted
the county and administrative
portion of these fees. Each
municipality may set the municipal
portion.
Council decided to table the
matter until a survey of
surrounding municipalities was

Memorial Community Hall Board
were informed at the Dec. 7 meet-
ing, by Caretaker Janice Henry that
the heating system in the auditori-
um had broken down on Nov. 11.
Hartech Services of Exeter was
called ir, to repair the system. A
thermostat had to be replaced as a
wire had burnt off. The heating sys-
tem in the box office was repaired
during the same visit by Hartech.
Hartech Services does not
presently have a signed contract
with the village but they will be
contacted and asked to submit a
proposal.
Ms Henry also informed the
board that $1,729.95 in rentals had
been received from October to
December but there is still
completed by the clerk.
Payment of the bills and accounts
for the period ending Nov. 30/93 in
the total amount of $478,431.15 as
supported by the Deputy Clerk's list
of vouchers was approved. The
road superintendent's request to
renew the licences on the Mack
truck and the half ton truck in the
amount of $1,018 was also given
council's approval.
. Council authorized and approved
the assessment reduction for 1993
taxes pursuant to Section 442 of the
municipal act in the total amount of
$744.40.
Council indicated that the interest
and penalty on late payment of
taxes would remain at 12 per cent
per year or one per cent per month
$1,048.60 outstanding.

Shirley Fyfe spoke with John
Elliott of Elliott's Insurance regard-
ing coverage for small groups rent-
ing the facilities.
Mr. Elliott says all small groups
would be covered by the village
insurance but larger groups such as
the Lions or Optimists would be
required to purchase liability insur-
ance with a liquor licence endorse-
ment clause, if applicable.
The Blyth Legion Ladies Auxil-
iary donated $1,000 to the hall to
go towards the purchase of new
front doors.
The board agreed to allow the
Blyth Legion Ladies Auxiliary to
oversee the project to update the
kitchen supplies for the hall.

instructed to prepare the
appropriate bylaw.
A claim was received for
livestock killed by dogs in the
township. Council instructed the
township's animal control officer to
continue his investigation.
Council enacted a bylaw to
constitute and appoint a committee
of adjustment for the township.
Membership in the Ontario Farm
Drainage Association was renewed
by Council. The 1994 membership
dues are $90. Memberships in the
Ontario Municipal Management
Institute in the amount of $84.40
and the Ontario Municipal Water
Association in the amount of $150
were declined.
Council granted Councillor
Hagle his request for a leave of
absence from Dec. 19 through to
Feb. 1 with the condition that ail
council honoraria be suspended for
this period of time.
The township municipal office
will be closed Monday, Dec. 27
and Monday, Jan. 3 for the holiday
season.
The next regularly scheduled
meeting of Council is Tuesday,
Dec. 21 at 8 p.m. at the Colborne
Township Community Hall.

Clogging for Christmas
A group from the Carry On Cloggers did some lively routines to the delight of the large crowd
on hand for the annual Blyth Christmas Pageant at Memorial Hall Saturday night. With Don
Scrimgeour as Master of Ceremonies the evening featured some of the very best local talent
for an entertaining evening of music, dance and laughter.
