Jean Plaetzer had "who had the youngest grandchild" and the gift went to Violet Durnin, Betty Archambault had a contest for the most letters in your name and Teresa Roetcisoender was the winner of this and received a prize. Maureen Bean had a contest of using the word Christmas and to see how many letters you could pick from that, that were in your name and have the least letters left. The winner was Tena Empey. Beth Knox gave a reading, "Christmas Tide". Edythe read a message for hunters. "The Night Before Christmas" was acted out. Edythe had some Christmas riddles. There was a gift exchange. The meeting finished with Christmas treats, served by Edythe and Beth. People Friends and neighbours of Mrs. Roxie Maize will be sorry to hear she is a patient in Clinton Public Hospital. The best wishes of the commun- ity are extended to her for a speedy recovery. The Londesboro Business Association wishes to thank everyone who participated in our Christmas draw. There was an excellent attendance and everyone enjoyed delicious desserts. Marylyn Verbeek, co president took charge of the short business meeting. It was decided to make the allocation for the M and S Fund at $700 for 1994. There was an age guessing contest and the winners were Dorothy Grange and Joyce Bean. Marilyn and Elva decorated a Christmas wreath. Marilyn made the wreath and Elva explained the meaning of each article used on it. The meeting closed with prayer and a Christmas benediction. On Tuesday evening, Dec. 14 euchre was played at the Auburn Community Hall. Winners were: high man, Jane Glousher (playing as a man); low man, Harvey Dolmage; high lady, Lillian Appleby; low lady, Kay Hesselwood and novelty prize, Nancy Slater. Euchre will commence again on Tuesday evening, Jan. 4 at 8 p.m. L The news from ondesboro Hoggarts greet lights, shopping for Christmas gifts, Bing Crosby's "White Christmas", Charles Dicken's carol, Gene Autrey's Rudolph, angels, shepherds, donkeys, Christmas pageants, star and tree. He asked if everyone would be ready for Christmas with these things. The answer was "No". He put the tree away and showed a Holy Family nativity picture and said there couldn't be Christmas without Jesus. Tena Empey presented Rev. Ross with a gift. Evelyn Flett introduced Gladys Van Egmond and Ken Flett who played selections on the piano, accordion and violin. Evelyn read two poems "Unwrapping Presents" and What the Stocking said." She also had two contests and one was won by Gwen Bidwell and the other by Betty Archambault. Tena Empey gave the treasurer's report. Christmas cards were signed by all for shut-ins and members of the Institute not able to attend. There was an exchange of gifts with Betty in charge. Jean thanked all for contests, music, readings, message, etc. Auld Lang Syne was sung and Rev. Ross closed with prayer. The singing of O Canada closed the enjoyable Christmas meeting. Rev. Ross's sermon was entitled "What Do You Want For Christmas?" Rev. Ross gave a prayer and the Lord's Prayer was repeated in unison. The offering was received by Bob Worsell and Gordon Gross and dedicated in song and prayer. Darlene Empey called Ruth Mercer, Rev. Ross' fiancee to the front and announced their engagement and their marriage to take place on Jan. 21. She was presented with a lovely bouquet of flowers. Rev. Ross pronounced the benediction and amens were sung to end the service. Mrs. Bonnie Armour of Waterloo spent Saturday, Dec. 18 with her parents Ruth and Tom Jardin.
