Crime of the Week
THEFT OF VEHICLE
Early in the morning of Aug. 28
a 1987 GMC pick up truck was
stolen from Hensall. It was later
found with extensive damage,
abandoned near Brucefield.
It would appear that a recovered
stolen vehicle (1988 Mazda pickup
truck, taken from Ingersoll, and
recovered at St. Joseph's beach on
Aug. 28, was the means of
transportation for the thieves who
entered a vehicle at that location
and stole three sets of roller blades.
1800-265-1777 and you could
receive a reward of up to $1,000.
Remember crime doesn't pay
Crime Stoppers does.

Council will meet with the Public
Utilities Commission at its January
meeting to discuss implementation
of the Social Contract for 1994.
The current contract calls for all
employees to accept a wage freeze
for three years but Clerk-Treasurer
Donna White explained that only
employees making over $30,000 a
year are affected so council might
want to look at the salaries of those
making less to see if wages might
be unfrozen. As for herself (the
only employee making $30,000 or
more) she said she was willing to
take unpaid days off or whatever is
necessary to meet the requirements.

Brussels Christmas trees could
end up being composted in Mensall
this year. Councillors decided to
take up an offer from the Hensall
compost facility for free compost-
ing of Christmas trees. A designat-
ed date will be set up for collection
of trees in the vil4ge and they will
be trucked to Hensall where they
will be chipped and added to the
composting mix at the million dol-
lar plant which also handles waste
from Hensall's large elevators.
