Smith family holds dinner

The families of Mabel Smith held
their annual Christmas pot luck
dinner at the Cranbrook Hall, Sun-
day, Nov. 27.
There were 120 people in atten-
dance and the games were enjoyed
by all.
A speedy recovery is extended to
Doris Jacklin following her surgery
in Stratford hospital.
Congratualtions to first time par-
ents Glen and Diane Miners on the
arrival of Megan Jane a new grand-
daughter for Vernice and Eric
Prescott and Carl and Marianne
Miners.
Sympathy is extended to the fam-
ilies of Marj Keffer, who passed
away in Listowel hospital on Sun-
On Thursday, Dec. 2, 18
members and one special guest met
at Londesboro United Church for
the Burns UCW Christmas
meeting. A delicious turkey dinner,
was served at 10 o'clock by Linda
Horbanuik.
After dinner several Christmas
Carols were sung accompanied by
Ida Leiper on the piano. A
Christmas gift was presented to
Rev. Paul Ross, who then thanked
the ladies.

After having lunch at
McDonalds, the classes had a tour
of "North Castle Marine," where
they saw some beautiful boats
being built.
VIOLENCE IN THE MEDIA
This past week the students of
Grade 8 have been doing a unit on
violence in the media, and the
effects this violence has on human
behaviour. The class was involved
in many different activities related
to this very important topic.
WHO?
On Thursday, Nov. 18 author
Members exchanged Christmas
gifts. All signed a Christmas card
for Agnes Leiper.
Renee Snell conducted the
business. Call was answered with a
Bible verse and minutes of the last
meeting were read. Following a
vote by ballot it was decided the
bazaar will be discontinued.
Shut-in boxes will be delivered.
Burns will donate a poinsettia to
the church. The meeting closed
with prayer.
Richard Thompson came to school.
He gave a presentation about his
books. He told a few of his stories
and showed different ways to tell
stories. He told how he became a
writer and how to get started
writing your own stories.
Autographed books, which were
written by him, were on sale and
students had a lot of fun listening to
him.
CHINOOK
Seaforth high school's drama
club put on the play "Chinook" on
Friday, Nov. 19. The play is an
Indian Legend about the Ice
Woman. The students at Hullett
had a lot of fun watching and
listening to the play.
Youth group
to go bowling
Greeters at Londesboro United
Church on Sunday, Dec. 5 were
Ken and Laura Scott. This was
hymn-sing Sunday. The second
advent candle was lit.
The sermon topic was "Turn
Around".
Senior Youth Group will meet
for bowling at Clinton Crown
Lanes Friday, Dec. 10 at 8 p.m.
The Fellowship Committee will
meet at the church Wednesday,
Dec. 8 at 8 p.m.
Choir members are reminded
about practice Saturday, Dec. 18
and Sunday, Dec. 19 at 10 a.m. at
the church.

Shuffleboard was held at Hullett
Central School on Wednesday
evening, Dec. 1 at 8 p.m. Winners
were: high man, Milton Dale and
high lady, Helen Dale. Seven
people were present.
Friends will be sorry to hear of
the passing of Mrs. Elsie Shaddick
of Ritz Villa, Mitchell. She was a
former Londesboro resident.
The sympathy of the community
's extended to her family Bill and
John Shaddick and family.

tables of euchre at the Ethel Hall
Monday evening.
Winners were: 50/50, Mel Jack-

Bremner and Bob Bateman; tally
card draws, Hazel McKenzie,
Helen Dobson, Jim Cooper,
Dorothy Dilworth, Lois McLean,
Verna Crawford, Ross Stephenson
and Harold Coulter.
The next euchre will be Dec. 13
and a draw will be made for jams
donated by Glen Farms, Ethel.
