"Dreams come True" with Soundsation and the Brussels
arena came alive during two performances on Saturday,
Nov. 20. With songs like "Who put the Bop" and "The Boy
from New York City" the first half of the program was
rocking with the nostalgic music of the 50s and 60s. The
second half featured popular Disney classics. Featured
with the chorus of men and women and the Soundsation
band were several soloists and lively choreograph
routines. The group is led by Byron Ballagh, left.

The Board of Directors of the
Edward Johnson Music Founda-
tion, presenter of the annual Guelph
Spring Festival, today announced
the appointment of Simon
Wynberg as the Festival's new
Artistic Director effective Jan. 1.
Mr. Wynberg brings with him
broad experience in administering
the artistic activities of other music
Festivals — both in Ontario and
abroad.
He established a chamber music
series and music festival in the
hamlet of Blair Athol], Scotland in
1989, and has since overseen its
growth as an important musical
centre drawing audiences from
Europe and North America. Most
recently, Mr. Wynberg completed
his inaugural season as Artistic
Director of "Music at Speedside" in
Fergus. As Ontario's first fall music
festival, this enthusiastically
received enterprise featured leading
Canadian and international artists
performing in the historic
Speedside United Church.
"I am very excited at the
challenge the Guelph Spring
Festival offers and look forward to
collaborating with its knowledge-
able artistic community," said
Wynberg upon his appointment. "I
hope together we can build on
Guelph's past triumphs, widen its
influence and broaden both its

Festival Search Committee chair
Gerald Manning conveyed the
board's enthusiasm regarding the
appointment. "Our committee met
with a talented array of candidates,
who offered many creative ideas
for the Festival's artistic direction.
It was certainly a difficult decision,
but we are confident that we have
found a candidate with the
appropriate balance of skills.
Artistically, he possesses an
outstandin'g network of
professional contacts throughout
Canada, the United States and
Europe. This is certainly evident in
his program for Speedside, which
the committee felt was artistically
outstanding. In addition, he has a
solid administrative history,
overseeing two financially
successful festivals."
Mr. Wynberg will assume the
post following the departure in
