Grey makes donations to Santa Claus parades Poster winners Poster winners in the Legion Remembrance Day competition were presented with their awards at the Blyth Public School Remembrance Day service. Presenting the award were Donna Govier (left) branch treasurer and Donna Dougherty (right) Legion president. Receiving the awards are: Shane Hesch, third place intermediate colour poster; Christina Black, first place, intermediate colour; Cappy Onn, second place intermediate colour: Skye Lantinga, first place intermediate black and white. Grey Township Council held its regular meeting on Nov. 15 and authorized grants of $100 to the Brussels Santa Claus Parade, and $150 to the Grey Township Firemen's Christmas banquet. Council endorsed a resolution from the municipality of Neebing to enforce or enact legislation to ensure that municipalities collect gross receipt taxation from new telephone companies such as United, Call-Net etc. At the present time, gross receipts taxation is collected from Bell Canada and other independent telephone companies. Council also endorsed a resolution from the township of Onondaga requesting the federal government to compensate municipalities for the loss of taxation on lands that are added to Indian reservations. Council decided that with the landfill site being closed on Dec. 25 and Jan. 1, there will be no municipal garbaoe collection in Ethel on Dec. 24 or 31. The next collection date after Dec. 17 will be Jan: 7. The next regular meeting of council is scheduled for Monday, Dec. 6 at 9:30 a.m. Community-Living Central Huron Invites Applications for the position of Bookkeeper/Secretary Duties include typing, recep- tion, and a variety of book- keeping tasks.
