from the puck, while goalie Trevor Fortune has his attention focused on the action behind the
net. The home team did well sending Palmerston home at the end of Sunday's game with a 4-

Atoms win, lose
The Brussels House League
Atoms split their two games in the
past week.
On Nov. 16, the Atoms hosted
Zurich who jumped to a quick four
goal lead in the first.
By the end of the second, the
home team had split the lead in half
and were able to tie the game with
just two minutes left.
However, they could not clinch
the game as Zurich scored the game
winner with only 31 seconds
remaining.
Brussels goals were scored by
Matthew McCall (two), Chris
Blake and Joshua Gropp who also
earned two assists. Other assists
went to Tyler Bragg, Stephen Todd
and Devon Frank.
In a weekend game, Brussels
travelled to Monkton to take on the
Elma-Logan team.
Again, the opponents took the
early lead but with a goal by Joshua
Gropp tied the game in the second.
The teams entered the final frame
with a score of 2-2 but two goals by
Stephen Todd took the Atoms to
their first win of the season.
The final score was 4-3.
The other Brussels point was
earned by Marc Fischer with assists
going to Joshua Gropp (two), Chris
Blake and Stephen Todd.
Brussels
Midgets
trounce
Milverton
It was two wins for the Brussels
Midget Rep team as they faced-off
against Hensall and Milverton in
WOAA hockey action this past
week.
Nov. 17 saw Brussels host Hen-
sall showing the visitors to the door
after a 5-1 victory. Wayne Alexan-
der notched the first with assists by
Brad Mulvey and Chris Stevenson.
In the second Stevenson
launched Brussels ahead by two off
a play from Tim Machan and
Alexander. A set up by Mike
Dauphin and Pete Gusso helped
Ryan Finch nudge in the third point
while Alexander lit the light one
more time before the visitors man-
aged to sneak one past the home
goal.
Then Alexander and Machan set
up Grant Jarvis for Brussels' final
goal at 8:11.
Two days laters the team showed
even less mercy when they trav-
elled to Milverton and trounced the
home team by seven.
Dauphin led the first period
attack off a play by Brett Clarkson,
then the pair combined to set up
Stevenson for the second goal.
With 2:08 on the clock Stevenson
notched another assisted by
Alexander to end the first period
scoring.
Machan, assisted by Brett Fischer
added one more to the Brussels
lead, before Milverton got on the
board in the second. Clarkson fol-
lowed with assists to Dauphin and
Chad McCallum, then 10 seconds
later Alexander punched one in
unassisted. Milverton managed to
sneak another home, which was
quickly cancelled by Alexander off
a play by Finch.
The rest of Brussels points came
early and late in the third. Steven-
son put the tally to eight when he
shot home in off Machan and
Finch. Then with just 30 seconds
left on the clock Alexander's hat
trick finished the onslaught.

The Brussels Bulls fell into last
place in the Western Junior C
standings on the weekend despite a
solid effort in the team's lone game.
The Bulls travelled to Mt. Forest
Saturday night and battled the first
place Patriots to a 3-3 tie. In fact,
the Bulls had a 3-1 third period
lead but let it slip away. Jason
Baier, Peter Ryter and Darin
Alviano scored for Brussels.
Jonathan Lane and Nate Bender
each picked up two assists. Scott
Walls turned in another solid effort
between the pipes. The game was
also the first for Ryan Rubbins this
season in a Bulls' uniform. The tall
centre looked good between Greg
McNevan and Brian Zabel as the
line created a number of scoring
chances.
Bulls' Coach Scott Pettigrew
says, "We have cut our goals
against substantially from the start
of the season and now we just have
to figure out how to create a little
more offence.'' With 41 goals for,
the Bulls trail the other four teams
in the league by at least 20 goals.
As far as the standings go, the
Bulls trail Walkerton by one point
but have a game in hand. Saturday
night the Bulls host Wingham at 9
and then host the Blackhawks
Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m.
