Phyllis Mitchell played her violin and Margery Huether played the organ while people were being seated. Marie McGavin sang "In Flanders Fields" and Don McDonald sang, "Let There Be Peace". Don Dunbar played 'Amazing Grace' on the bagpipes. Rev. Banks did a reading called, "Christmas in the Trenches". It told how on Christmas Eve 1914, a few sturdy voices could be heard singing 'From Heav'n above to earth I come...' The song was coming from the German side. Then some men from the English side sang "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen" and later voices from both sides united in singing 'Silent Night'. This was followed by men coming up from the trenches showing each other family photos and sharing chocolate and cigarettes. Later they all played football. On Oct. 27 the fate of the Blyth Snow Travellers was to be decided. There was an excellent turn out for the first meeting so with this great enthusiasm it was decided to keep the club together. It was agreed that the club needed a change. A new executive was voted in as follows: president, Bill Glousher; secretary, Mike Clark; treasurer, Hebo Siertsema; board of directors, John Hoonaard, Todd MacDonald, Scott Mac- Donald, Bruce Howson, John Nesbit and Tom Franken. On Christmas Day they came together again and played soccer. For a while, they all experienced a little peace. Edith and Campbell Wey were greeters at Duff's United Church Nov. 14. Rev. Banks welcomed everyone and announced Bible Study Nov. 17 will be at Bluevale session 4 The Book of Signs'. He also hoped that quite a few people will join in the pen making of a Jesse Tree at the Advent party in Bluevale Nov. 26 at 8 p.m. Nov. 21 will be dedication of memorial gifts. The children's song was "Shout for God" an echo song. The congregation sang the first part and the children and choir sang the echo. Rev. Banks had the children work on the book of the New Testament and said they'd try it again in 1994. Sharon Godkin was the scripture reader and read I Thess. 5: 1-11. Rev. Banks' sermon was "If I had a Talent". With the great interest in the club again, a site for a new clubhouse was chosen. The location is in the bush at the back of the Howson farm. The last couple of weekends the members have been busy clearing a spot for the clubhouse. The club has not purchased anything as yet, but are looking at a few options. Planned activities for the snow season are the grand opening for the clubhouse, poker rally, night runs, steak feed, breakfast, euchre tournament, and a family day.
